As time goes by people change into the people they are going to be forever. A great teacher once told me that everyone has their purpose and each person’s purpose is different. Being the senior that i am really got to me when we started reading the poems of Exeter. These poems tell how people do what they do for a reason.To me these all pose the question what are you going to do with your life. The poems of exeter send the message that what you do in life is up to you.
The first poem we read was The Seafarer. The message i get from this is that the things you choose to do are entirely up to you. It tells about a man who is sailing his ship on the great ocean blue. The only thing that isnt fun about that is he is sailing all by himself. He talks about how he mans the ship alone and the great difficulties that he must endure. The hardest part he says is being alone not having any other men with him or a women. He goes to ports all over and gets supplies but he never stays in the cities. He always leaves back to the ocean in the end he says that he is the one who decides to go back, he is the one who puts it on himself. …show more content…

This story is a very interesting one it is about a warrior looking for a new home. His previous king who he had fought for had been killed. And he is a warrior who feels like he must fight for a king so he sets off in search of one. Because when he finds a new king he ultimately finds a new home. So he will edure the challenge to find his new home. In the poem he says “no man may know wisdom till many a winter”. Meaning you have to experience things to gain wisdom.
