Background of Study
Motivation is a power of our self to achieve something. This can be score in academic, job, lose weight , want reward or anything. Actually, motivation comes from Latin words that is “movere”. Motive is a specific need or desire that arouses the organism and directs its behavior toward a goal. All motives are triggered by some kind of stimulus: a bodily condition, such as low levels of blood sugar or dehydration; a cue in the environment, such as a “Sale” sign; or feeling, such as loneliness, guilt, or anger. When a stimulus induces goal-directed behavior, we say it has motivated the person.
Has two types of motivation which is intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. The Intrinsic motivation refers to motivation that comes from inside an individual such as when you want to score in exam, you will study hard and study smart to get it. It call self booster in your self. Another example, when you want something, you will try to realize it until your dream become true. However, Intrinsic motivation is not related to the extrinsic motivation.
Extrinsic motivation refers to motivation that comes from outside an individual. For example, extrinsic reward such as interpersonal rewards, salary and wages, promotion and employee benefit. Another example is when you not interest in subject that you study, you will feel boring and lastly the possibility you to fail is high.
However, as a degree student, motivation is a power that can change someone from nothing to something. By example, from lazy student to diligent student.

The three milers in The Perfect Mile attempt to achieve the four-minute mile, and they each have different forms of motivation. There are two milers that achieve success because their motive impelled them to prevail. What is motivation?
Many researches have been conducted to investigate what motivates students for better academic performance and whether it has a correlation with achievement motivation.
Once stated by Dwight D. Eisenhower, “Motivation is the art of getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to do it.” The aforementioned ideology places an emphasis on an individual’s internal desires, rather than an outside/external force driving the individual’s consciousness (cognitive evaluation.) Therefore intrinsic motivation is one in which an individual 's own desire comes from within; a relentless and genuine passion for an intended goal. On the contrary, when an individual relies on external factors such as, a reward or any other form of external reinforcement, an extrinsic motivation is exhibited. Although society likes to stress the importance in pursuing an internal motivation, in today 's modern world, an extrinsic factor far outweighs an internal desire to accomplish an objective.
According to Robbins et al; (Robbins et al, pg 296) motivation refers to the process by which a persons efforts are energized, sustained, and directed towards a goal. This definition has three key elements: energy, direction, and persistence. Motivation is a complex and important subject, has historically been given a great deal of attention by Psychologists, who have proposed theories to explain it. (Riggio, pg 188),
He is ready to work very hard for a very long time to sustain his passion and to be successful. Sam will be discussed in terms of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and mastery, helpless and performance orientation. What are these terms mean? Intrinsic motivation is connected with the natural human ability in the process of learning and understanding the received information. Extrinsic motivation can reflect true self-regulation or external control.
An intrinsic motivation is characterized as a motivation for the sack of doing it. There is no external reward for completing the specific task in intrinsic motivation. The motivation come from the person 's desire to complete the task because they know the task itself is rewarding enough. An internal motivation differs slightly from intrinsic motivation. Internal motivation is strictly from the desire and willingness of the person to complete the task. External motivation is a motivation factored by outside influences. Whether the outside influence is negative or positive, the motivation comes from money, grades, awards, tokens, criticism, or punishments.
Motivation is an internal process that makes a person move toward a goal, the dynamic of behavior. Do not be fooled though, people can be motivated by external incentives as well. First, a person experiences a need that energizes behavior called drive. A response is then activated that leads a person to their goal. According to Coon and Mitterer (2016) motives can be divided into three categories, biological, stimulus, and learned motives.

Intrinsically motivated behaviors are those that one does for enjoyment of the activity itself. There is no external reward for these behaviors, and it is seen as a prototype for autonomous behaviors. Extrinsically motivated behaviors are those that one does to illicit a direct consequence. In some cases, one might behave a certain way to avoid punishment, or alternatively, to receive a reward. Most people are extrinsically motivated to go to work every day. There are four different types of extrinsic motivation: External, introjected, identified, and integrated. For certain activities, Amotivation can occur, which usually has negative effects. This occurs when people’s needs aren’t being satisfied by whatever they are doing. Each of the types of motivation can be located on The Self-Determination
According to Robert E. Quinn(p.205) there are two types of motivation (extrinsic and intrinsic). Extrinsic motivation refers to the source of motivation in which the behavior concern external factors such as money, praise or rewards. Whereas intrinsic motivation is the behavior which is internally concerning an individual.
According to Greenberg (1999) motivation is defined "as a process of arousing, directing and maintaining behaviour towards a goal." Where directing' refers to the selection of a particular behaviour; and maintenance' refers to the inclination to behave with consistency in that manner until the desired outcome is met.

To a certain extent it can be said that without a sense of motivation, whether it be intrinsic or extrinsic, a child’s ability to learn and reach their potential is greatly lessened. Motivation is best described as an internal state that not only arouses and directs behaviour but also helps to maintain it (Woolfolk & Margetts, 2013). Motivation not only plays a large role in a child’s learning ability, it also shapes a student’s interests and enjoyment of school and study (Martin, 2003). For both pre-service teachers and expert teachers it is easy to see that if a student possesses high motivation to learn, their behaviour towards their school work is more positive and in turn leads to higher academic success, whereas a student with little to no motivation will exhibit negative behavi...
Motivation is really important tool in a learning environment. Also motivation effects student learning and their behavior as well. It directs behavior towards particular targets. Also it effect the decision which students takes. In motivation mainly we have two types which is intrinsically and extrinsically being motivated. For example: when a student is intrinsically motivated they just do it for themselves not because of the reward that they will get back. It’s just because they have their own interest and they enjoy doing that. On the other side, when a student is extrinsically motivated they just do it for the reward that they will get. That’s why in learning process it’s important that each student should
