Michelangelo was born in Caprese, Italy on March 6th 1475. His family was politically prominent as his family had large land property. His father was a banker and was looking to his son to engage in his businesses. As a young boy, he has ambitions of becoming a sculptor, but his father was very discouraging of this. He wanted his son to live up to the family name and take up his father’s businesses. Michelangelo became friends with Francesco Granacci, who introduced him to Domenico Ghirlandio(biography.com). Michelangelo and his father got into a series of arguments until eventually they arranged for him to study under Ghirlandaio at the age of thirteen. Ghirlandaio watched Michelangelo work and recognized his talent for the art and recommended him into an apprenticeship for the Medici family palace studio after only one year of at the workshop. The Medici’s were very rich from making the finest cloths. Giorgione or Giorgio Barbarelli da Castelfranco was born in 1477 or 1478, the exact date is not known, in Castelfranco. Even though there were no more than about twenty paintings officially associated with him, of which only about six are attributed to him without doubt, his originality was so powerful that these few works have come to represent not only the first stage in the Venice High Renaissance, but a new trend in Italian art as well. Surviving documentation of his life and work is sparse.

In 1528, a current pushed Cabeza De Vaca and 300 other men to southwest Florida. When they arrived cabeza ordered the 300 men to abandon the ships and go on the island and search for treasure. The men had to figure a way to travel to west Mexico from Tampa Bay, Florida. After months the goal was no longer colonization, it was survival. Cabeza De Vaca survived by developing surviving skills, getting resources, and meeting new people.
The journey of Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca is single handedly one of the most breath taking feats of exploration in the Americas. He departed Spain as a member of a royal Spanish expedition in hopes to colonize the mainland of the Spanish called La Florida, present day Florida. Scott Joplin, also known as The King of ragtime, was an African music composer and pianist of the twentieth century. He focused a lot on the perfection of ragtime. Although he was successful, he did struggle during his career because of the time period in which he lived in. Joplin composes many ragtime music, but what is more unique is his opera that he composed, Treemonisha in 1911. Treemonisha was the only opera in existence about the Reconstruction Era of the African-American experience which was written by a black man who experienced it himself.

Goya was born in the small Aragonese town of Fuendetodos (near Zaragoza) on March 30, 1746. His father was a painter and a gilder of altarpieces, and his mother was descended from a family of minor Aragonese nobility. Facts of Goya's childhood are scarce. He attended school in Zaragoza at the Escuelas Pias. Goya's formal artistic education commenced when, at the age of 14, he was apprenticed to a local master, José Luzan, a competent although little-known painter in whose studio Goya spent four years. In 1763 the young artist went to Madrid, where he hoped to win a prize at the Academy of San Fernando. Although he did not win the desired award, he did make the acquaintance of Francisco Bayeu, an artist also from Aragón, who was working at the court in the academic manner imported to Spain by the German painter Anton Raphael Mengs. Bayeu (the brother of Goya's wife) was influential in forming Goya's early style and was responsible for his participation in an important commission, the fresco decoration of the Church of the Virgin in El Pilar in Zaragoza.
Born in 1313, Giovanni Boccaccio is one of the greatest figures in Italian Literature. He was born in Paris, France by a French woman who remains unknown, but on many occasion he speaks very highly of her. His father is an Italian; they are part of the middle class. As for their professional status, they were Merchants / Bankers. Although, Bocaccio was born out of wedlock, his father legitimized him and took him to his house, provided him with a family and a good education.
Piero was responsible for long-term loans with those who supported and bought from the many Medici banks. His father passed down all loans even after his death. This caused merchants to eventually go bankrupt. Piero continued the support of the arts during the Renaissance. Piero’s taste was much more eclectic than his father. Piero bought rare books and added them to the family collection. Although Piero wasn’t nearly as successful as his father he kept the businesses running well during his time. He died in 1469, due to gout and lung disease, and is buried in the Church of San Lorenzo, next to his brother
No one knows exactly when the Italian artist, Tiziano Vecellio, was born. Over the centuries, there has been a great deal of confusion concerning the date, due to a misprint in his biography by sixteenth century art historian, Girgio Vasari. Vasari recorded the date as 1480, but the progress of Tiziano Vecellio’s work, as well as other documented sources, announce his date of birth to be sometime between 1488 and 1490. (Magill 2310) The place of his birth was Pieve de Cadore, in the Alps north of Venice. Tiziano Vecellio, also known as Titian, was a great master of religious art, a portraitist, and the creator of mythological compositions, which have been so decorative and inventive that no other artist has yet surpassed them. People such as his wife, Cecilia, Giovanni Bellini, and the Holy Roman Emperor, Charles V, influenced Titian. (Magill 2311) Titian is considered to be one of the greatest artists of the Italian High Renaissance. Titian developed an oil-painting technique during his time as an artist of successive glazes and broad paint application that influenced many generations of artists to follow along with his other various important accomplishments.

Vinci is a last name we associate with him from a close town where he grew up. As far as we know, da Vinci has always been called “di ser Piero da Vinci” by his family and friends. Da Vinci didn’t have his birth mother, Caterina, around a whole lot, but he stayed primarily with his attorney father, Ser Peiro. Leonardo goes beyond just being a painter though, as he has documented dozens of inventions and theories. His ability to blend his intellect and imagination led him to create ideas on paper like the bicycle and airplane by looking at just how a bat flies.
Leonardo was born in a small town in Tuscany, Italy called Vinci on 15 April, 1452. Back then, not all people had surnames; only those who were rich and powerful deserved one. Therefore, when people today refer to him as “Leonardo da Vinci”, “da Vinci” actually means “from Vinci” in Italian. His talent for painting was recognized by his family and neighbors when he was still a boy, and he started his painting career at a very young age. At 14, he was sent to Florence by his father to learn from Verrocchio, who owned a leading workshop at the time. It is said that when he cooperated with Verrocchio on the Baptism of Christ, his skill was so much finer than his master’s that Verrocchio quit in the middle and never painted again for his whole life. 1
