Religion during the Elizabethan Era
Protestant churches formed against what its followers considered to be errors of the Roman Catholic Church.
The latin and eastern Catholic churches came together to form the “Roman Catholic Church.”
There were two major religions during the Elizabethan era, Protestant and Catholic.
Martin Luther formed the Protestant religion in 1517.
Martin Luther publicly started the Protestant church, by railing the “95 Theses” to the Castle Church in Wittenberg, that way everyone could see it.
During the Elizabethan era, everyone was required to go to church, at least once a month.
Catholics believed that Priests and the Pope were able to forgive sins, at a price, through gifts, or indulgences.
