Introduction In today’s society, physical education has developed over the years into a wider range of activities and sports, and has grown to include more women athletes. Even with the expansion of sports and more women athletes, there are higher obesity rates in the present day than back in the 70’s era. This is due to easier access of unhealthy processed foods, and parents not paying attention to their kid’s activities, and more people nowadays live a lazy and uncaring lifestyle (Judith Woods, 2007). Many people do not choose to participate in physical activities because they have little motivation and would rather sit down and watch television. During my father’s school years, physical education was highly encouraged by his teachers. Most of his classmates enjoyed physical education class in all his years of school. Many of his classmates did drop out of school because there was no laws against it and many jobs back then did not require a high school diploma so the dropout rate was quite high. As for my views on physical education, I believe all physical activities are important. When I was in elementary school we had recess and lunch just like my father and many students played games and made tons of friends during those times but the main focus was not on the physical activities it was on talking with friends. In my middle school, just as my father’s middle school years, there was a physical education class mandatory for each year but there was no separation of genders. All males and females were able to participate in activities and sports together. During this time, social medias began to grow popular so people were more focused on their phones and computers than throwing a ball. In my high school, physical education class was only required for two out of the four years of high school in order to satisfy the physical education requirements to graduate at the end of those four years. Those two years could consist of either a physical education class, a dance class, or joining a sport. I chose dance class because I was interested in dance at the time and many friends who took that class said they learned a lot of cool dance moves and had lots of fun. I wanted to join a sport but I was unable to because my family did not allow it because they are very strict and since I was living under their roof at the time, I had to obey.
