Physical education in school systems is beneficial because it improves students’ health. Without physical education the child’s overall health will decrease. Despite these benefits, some people believe that physical education has no value to children in schools. Physical education is significant in schools because it improves children’s health.
Physical education in schools improves children’s physical health. Getting the recommended amount of exercise can combat obesity. “Regular physical activity can help children and adolescents improve cardiorespiratory fitness, build strong bones and muscles, control weight, reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, and reduce the risk of developing health conditions” (CDC.gov). Some parents state that school work is most important and physical education distracts time from learning. While this is true, PE class is just as important because it gets kids active and it gives children a mental break. Physical education obtains students a grade, therefore it is a class that students must attend. Similarly, calisthenics improve student’s grades in other subjects thus, is not a waste of time.
Opponents of physical education in schools state that gym is not the best way to utilize students’ time. Students’ should be given the choice to participate in gym class or not because many students aren’t as athletic and don’t enjoy it enough to want to do it in school. Despite this downfall, PE is important in students’ life and even though some don’t enjoy it as much, they need it in order to be successful in life. If not, diseases and health risks could come up and it wouldn’t be robust. Ultimately, physical education provides superior benefits. Physical education must be mandatory for students all over the world. It provides many conveniences for children later in life. Sports in school encourage kids to play more outside of school and from there, their health increases. Unquestionably, physical education improves kids’
Physical education has yet to become an established and important feature in Australian and English school programs. At one level physical education has enjoyed considerable political support, acquired support from athletes and secured a place on Australia and England's national curriculum. However on another level physical education has been the subject of crisis meetings in Australia, on the verge of being wiped out in later secondary school education in England and had numerous reviews. So why is physical education important? The major factor being the increasing rise in obesity, but also children appear to have less knowledge of physical skill, lack fitness and are very inactive is a few reasons why physical education needs remain in the curriculum but also gain greater priority.
John F Kennedy once said, “Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.” He believed that a person who has conditioned their body will exceed when striving towards intellectual achievements. Parents across America have seen the influence that physical exercise can have on students. After school physical education programs, such as sports, not only condition the students to maintain physical health, they also work with teachers to make sure the mind is also being conditioned through learning. Students who participate in school sports are required to maintain their grades to academic standards to be able to participate in the activity. Even though many people would agree that physical education is important to a student’s health and learning process, schools across America are still suffering budget cuts that directly affect the physical education programs and hinder the amount of resources schools have to educate students about physical education. In some cases programs have been removed from schools entirely due to the tremendous cuts in school funding. Physical education programs in schools should not suffer from budget cuts because they support making positive life choices, the exercise is good for an active brain, and being physically fit is important for children as they grow into adults.
Every day we are seeing how the population in our society acquires really bad habits that risk their health. Obesity has become an issue touching everybody’s life. People are wondering what the solution of the problem might be, and a good amount of them think that the only way to stop this increasing problem is to fight it from childhood. One of the ways to keep children from getting obese is by making them do sports. Some people are convinced that forcing children to take gym class is the magical way that will help children to stay healthy and in good spirits. I agree with the fact that children should be involved in activities that make them exercise. However, I think that even if children should get some kind of physical activity everyday, they shouldn’t be forced to take gym class since it encourages other kids to intimidate the ones that aren’t perfect looking and bully the ones that aren’t talented at sports.
Fitness education is extremely important especially in a school setting because it is an integral part of the total education of every child in Kindergarten through Grade 12. Quality physical education programs are needed to increase the physical competence, health-related fitness, self-responsibility and enjoyment of physical activity for all students so that they can be physically. Skill Development develops motor skills, which allow for safe, successful and satisfying participation in physical activities. Self-discipline facilitates development of student responsibility for health and fitness. Improved Judgment quality physical education can influence moral development. Students have the opportunity to assume leadership, cooperate with others; question actions and regulations and accept responsibility for their own behavior.
Physical activity should be encouraged at an early age. It would be best to make physical education a required school curriculum. A student taking a physical education class will have many benefits. For example, a child taking a physical education class will learn about proper exercising. It would also be wise if the instructors integrated information about healthy eating habits into the curriculum to further increase a child?s knowledge on good dieting. This will help a child develop physically more in strength and endurance which in turn will build healthy bones, muscles, and muscle development. Furthermore, at the same time a child will maintain a healthy weight from eating a nutritional diet. Having studied some physical education classes from personal experience, the coach was very passionate about being healthy. Before leaving P.E. class everyday, he would review all the major food groups and stress that the students stay away from fried foods and consume more fruit in their diet.
For instance, ¨¨Increased physical activity stimulates the brain and increases the number and capacity of blood vessels in the brain. This results in increased supply of oxygen, water, and glucose to the brain which in turn optimizes the performance of the brain.¨(NewKidsCenter) Children need to have a healthy life, so they can stay safe from any health disorders such as diabetes. However, drawbacks are also included in the idea of adding recess. A class called physical education is provided for students to already get their mind out of stress and to stay healthy in the meantime. “Several models and examples demonstrate that physical education scheduled during the school day is feasible on a daily basis.”(NCBI) This study was shown from researchers that physical education is easy and fun to do. To include, physical education also counts as a working period where students still have to pay attention to the teacher. However, students do not get to freely relax in physical education which won't do a difference from the rest of the
Physical education exists in schools to help students perform physical activity in schools and promote healthy lifestyles. It is extremely important that physical education teachers promote physical activity and healthy diets to young students because they are the ones who will be at risk of developing health issues such as obesity. Physical educators need to teach the younger generation the proper way to stay healthy so that they will continue to be physically active outside of phys...

There are many positive aspects to the question. Physical education classes, combined with nutrition classes could have a lifelong effect on the students who take said classes. Any general physical education classes could help students’ life styles if they stick with the skills and routines taught in the classes. Physical education time is being cut in schools to give more time for students to focus on core courses such as Science, Math and Reading. Some districts have eliminated the course or do not even provide it. These courses, although are very important, should not take away from a student’s well-being. Physical education provides a foundation to a student’s future lifestyle and good health habits. Physical education should be treated like every other foundational course because it is a necessary part of a student’s lifestyle that will benefit from every day. Physical education provides: 1) a variation of motor skills aimed to enhance the physical, mental, social and emotional development, 2) an understanding to improve and maintain their physical well-being and 3) opportunities to advance developing social and cooperative skills while gaining a multi-cultural perspective.
