“There is nothing more dangerous than to build a society with a large segment of people in that society who feel that they have no stake in it; who feel that that have nothing to lose. People who have stake in their society, protect that society, but when they don't have it, they unconsciously want to destroy it.” This quote from Martin Luther King explains that if people don't feel equal to everyone else or don’t have equal rights, then they are felt left out and so they wouldn’t like it anymore so they'll want to destroy it. There are many reasons why societies begin to fall. All kinds of societies can fall no matter how perfect it is. These societies can have many problems that lead to them falling, they could even start out as a small problem but can escalate and grow larger. The main issues for some for the greatest societies to fall, are the unfair laws, when they lose money and don’t have a lot and the unfair treatment of citizens. There can be many reasons of why societies fall, but one of the most important ones that lead them to failure are the unfair laws that they might have. An example of how unfair laws causes societies to fall is in a book call Unwind, where they have a law called storking. Storking is where If you don’t want your baby, you put it on the porch of someone elses house and then you just leave and if you open the door and there a baby you have to take unless you catch the person who left it running away. “She choses the home shrewdly. The house she decides on isn't the largest but is not the smallest. It has a very short walkway to the street, so she can get away quickly and its overgrown with trees, so no one either inside or out will be able to see her as she storks the newborn.”(Unwind p.54) Th... ... middle of paper ... ...laws are unfair the citizens get unhappy and once more people are unhappy the society begins to fall. Another key factor is that societies can lose money from many reasons, including wars and the little money can make the society go into economic depression. One last key point is that when societies treat their citizens unfairly or poorly those people would be happy since they treat different people differently and that leads to societies falling. One of the only ways to keep a society from failure is to learn from previous mistakes and not repeat them. Works Cited "Subscription." Subscription. Web. 22 Mar. 2014. . "Mindomo - Access Denied."
