I worked as a greens keeper at a golfcourse named Baycel. I had many responsibilities there including making sure the course was in good shape and playable each day. I had worked in my family mowing business since I was 10 and when I turned 16 and was able to drive, I decided to get a better paying job. Being a greens keeper worked as I already knew much about lawn maintenance. I did not anticipate just how much responsibility I would be given at this job at my age. Baycel was not what I would call a great golf course, but it was good enough for some people. I had one other co-worker who was sort of my boss, Jimmy, and the man who ran the course, Roger. He was very good at fixing the equipment and that was about it. He didn't
I began golfing in the past five years. I went out for the high school team and made it on the varsity co-ed team. I was the only girl, but I was determined to make it.
Working at Walmart it is close to impossible to get the whole weekend off. After finding out that the lawn & garden department was in desperate need of employees, I made my move.
I went through training, learning how to do my job correctly, and Internet exercises to make sure I knew the rules of the park. Later that day, I answered questions
After quitting baseball, I began to take up golf - a life long sport I had played with my dad however only recreationally. Not long after, I began my mistake free(sort of) journey with the River Bluff Golf team. Interestingly, during this time of my life, I felt lost but right at home. Furthermore, for the past three years, golf has made me incredibly happy. If I had the choice to go back and re-write my mistakes, I wouldn't - and after time to reflect, I don't believe that makes me insane or stubborn, just an individual who can safely say that he has a favorite
We were all greeted by Mr. Freedland, “Welcome guys, I am Mr. Freedland and I am the golf coach. Today, you guys are going to play 9 holes to determine your place on this golf team. I see there are 13 of you gentlemen here today. Unfortunately, only 12 can make the team. One of you guys will be going home today.” I was pretty scared. There were the same 12 people as last year, but there was one new player. His name was Ryan. Ryan came from Montana and it was his first year trying out on the team. I talked to him a few times and I found out that he was around the same skill level as Bill. We made our way to the first hole and Mr. Freedland announced our pairings. I was set to play with Bill and Ryan. I was pretty excited. Many holes later, I had a good round going. I knew I was going to make the team. Bill and Ryan though, were neck and neck. It was the ninth hole and it was time to tee off. I hit a slight draw and it landed straight down the middle. Bill was next. he took struck his ball kind of off and his ball flew over a tree where we could not see where it went. He hit into an area marked with out of bounds stakes. Ryan hit a straight ball down the middle. When we got up to the area where Bill hit his ball, we could not find it. We searched in the dense bushes and came up with nothing. We all stopped searching and agreed that Bill will take a penalty. Ryan started walking to the ball. I turned toward my ball also and
My dad forced me to play for my middle school team, but I didn’t complain considering I got to play with boys. I was pretty good, too. I was not only playing with these boys, but I was competing with them. Everything was going well. I wasn’t in love with golf, but I didn’t hate it anymore.
As a kid I always interested in making my own business. It started going putt putting in hocking hills. The putt place was called Hocking Hills Mini Golf and wasn’t the funnest story on how my dad and I found the place we were heading back from a fernal. On that day we played one round and I got a 36 was the record for the golf course. Aslo i got put into the paper there first page. That made me get into putt putt and made my own putt putt courses.
That was just that start of it but things began to look up. We found ourselves jobs out in Weed. It was a very nice place. Nice people and nice scenery. One day we went out and he saw a lady wearing a red dress so he touched it and the girl screamed so he couldn’t let go. She ran away and he skirt was torn and she told the people of Weed that he raped her so we had to run away and hide in farms irrigation. We waited till night and left. We were back on the road to find yet another job. We found this place out near Soledad. So we got a coach there but the coach dropped us of 4 miles away from the ranch. We were expected to be there the night before and arrived there the next day in the late afternoon. When we got there and the boss wasn’t too happy about that but got on with it and took our names down. We began work straight after dinner trying to make up for any time we missed.
Before you move on to greener pastures, it would be nice to get a little experience managing smaller local golf courses. There is no better way to discover exactly what it takes to mange a course, the customer service associated with it, and
At the time I was thirteen years old, and in a very unfamiliar place. I was at the U.S. Open at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. I had never held a golf club, never hit a golf ball, and never had watched golf all of my life. But, here I was at the Sunday of a U.S. Open. I was quickly intrigued with everything in golf, from that day forward. Getting to see legends of the game, such as Tiger Woods, and getting a fist pump from him, drew me into the game.
that I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field but I was not sure
Introduction The results of my personal inventory turned out to be not very surprising. My five career clusters are the following: Professional Support Services, Teaching and Training, Therapeutic Services, Counseling and Mental Health Services, and Administrative and Administrative Support. I was not surprised when I saw these career clusters because they each involve helping people. For example, in cluster one, which was Professional Support Services, one of the jobs listed was Librarian, and they help people find the information that they need to complete their task.
Throughout my last three years in college it has been difficult to manage school and a job. I come from a low-income family and seeing them stress doesn’t make it easier for me. My father works in foster farms in the clean up team. These past two years his hours have been cut and now works 8 hours a day. In the past he used to work up to 10 hours per day. He was diagnosed with diabetes and have made it a little more difficult to sustain his work and health. Working under the hot weather and having diabetes makes it more uncomfortable for him but he knows he is the one we depend on for financial support. My mother works in packing house and they are seasonal. It’s not guarantee every year that she has her position in her job. My mom’s jobs
Music in general has changed and maybe took over my mind. It sparked my mind when I attended a middle school band concert. The band was so fantastic, I wanted to join band when I go to that school. Luckily, they accepted new students who never played any instruments before, so this was my start.
Throughout my life I have had experiences that both impacted me with positive and negative experiences. These experiences and other choices I have made in my life on my own have made me into the person I am today and what I hope to achieve in the near future. Me personally I would have to say I’m not very comfortable with my life right now there are many things that I would do to change it to better myself. I know that I cant change what happen in the past and I would never wish for that because what has happen in the past has changed me in ways I am grateful for. I feel like I shouldn’t worry to much about things that stress me out in life to much because I know from experience from seeing everyone else that people go crazy when
