Specifically, the process of criminal investigation includes eyewitness testimony, interviewing, criminal profiling, performance measurement, and the impact of the criminal justice system on investigative practice (Tong, Bryant, & Horvath, 2009). As the result, understating the personality characteristics and behavioral traits of psychopathy allows criminal investigator to acquire effective strategies to deal with the offenders (Whitson, 2011). The rating of the PCL-R serves as a tool to assess and indicate the concept of psychopathy by examining the factor of interpersonal skills, affective response, lifestyle, and antisocial behavior (Ogloff, 2006). Therefore, the rating of the PCL-R tends to be precise based on the correlated factors. However, the assessment of psychopathy can be limited through investigator bias, false confession, false deception detection, and ineffective criminal profiling (Pozzulo, Bennell, & Forth, 2014).
