Psychology is a subject that has and continues to fascinate me throughout my life. To be able to understand how the mind works would be an invaluable experience for me as it is something in which I have always had a passion for. I have first hand experience with helping people through their issues by trying to envision their personal perspective of the problem and then suggesting possible strategies to overcome these issues, as well as giving advice. During my academic life, I have developed a strong interest in science especially biology. Over time human biology has fascinated me the most which sparked interest in topics such as neuroscience, criminology and psychopathology. This placement expanded my knowledge of biology, working in a laboratory and the work environment. The time I spent here also provided me with enhanced leadership skills, trustworthiness, behaviour focus and key aspects of management in the work place. I took part in Buddy Reading during my short time at Sixth Form; where I was able to help younger students improve their reading skills and boost their confidence. I find that this experience has developed my communication and listening skills, this will be beneficial to me in my Psychology course as I would have no difficulty participating in a one-to-one conversation with someone. I also participated in a 6th form Strawberry Tea Party for Breast Cancer Research, as well as part of the Welsh Baccalaureate. I completed the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh expedition, showing I have a variety of skills in many areas and that I have the motivation required to complete tasks both mentally and physically demanding. These demonstrate my commitment, dedication and enthusiasm towards my interests.
