Civil disobedients is refusing to follow certain laws, as a way of political protest. The Boston Tea Party is an good example of a group of people being disobedient. The colonist were protesting against the unfair tax placed on tea. So they dumped 3 ships worth of tea into the ocean. Prudence Crandall and Fred Korematsu are two less known examples of people being civil disobedients. These two may not be well know but, they impacted the civil right movement. Prudence Crandall and Fred Korematsu fought against the supreme court because of civil right. They both were fighting for basic civil rights. The citizens in Connecticut refused to tolerate her actions. The black law was shortly passed. The black law in connecticut was passed to prevent african american from getting a education. Crandall was arrested and tried in court for her action. Crandall eventually got arrested for running this school. She continued to run her school while in jail. Crandall receiving a lot of threats, and someone even went out to the extent to poison the water at her school. Crandall case eventually made it the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court reversed the lower court decision. The case got dismissed on July 22, 1834. She ended up having to shut down her school because it was trashed by vandalist. It was not worth keeping the school up if someone is just trying to destroy it. Fred Korematsu was a civil right activist that fought against racism. Korematsu was not allowed to join the United State coast guard because of his race. He was so heavily discriminated that he couldn't even get a haircut or a bite to …show more content…

Korematsu didn’t even have a choice, he was forced into the military base. Crandall wanted to educate young african americans. The white supremacist were threaten by Crandall school, they did not want african americans to get a education. In Saudi Arabia, females are not allowed to walk outside without a male chaperone. There not even allowed to show their skin as they go outside. This is similar to many civil rights cases. Just like the african american girls in connecticut during the black law. They had no choices but to follow the law. Some females in saudi arabia are trying to get their freedom, by breaking the law on purpose. Girls are not allowed to drive in saudi arabia, so the saudi arabian females are defying authorities and posting pictures of them driving on social media. The most famous instances of famous civil disobedience were all non-violent. Many famous civil rights activist preach non-violence, but there have been a lot of instances of violent civil disobedience. In 2014 the Boko Haram organization kidnaped 329 Nigerian girls from the Government Secondary School in Chibok. The boko Haram disliked western style education. So they kidnaped all these girls to protest. They ended up forcing girls into marriage. There is always an act of disobedience going on. This is similar to what happened to Korematsu.
