The ethical issue within this example is whether or not the vaccine should be shipped out. This is the ethical issue because by shipping it out to hundreds of thousands of people will be saved from the flu and thousands may be saved instead of dying. On the hand, 1/4th of the people who do get vaccinated will receive the contaminated vaccine that could be ineffective on multiple levels: non effective and then possibly death. The repercussions are massive because we are dealing with peoples lives and if they were to die they would not come back live. The best decision would be to take care of the public, look for the best result and have intentions that are to pure.
A deontologist in this circumstance would look into what is right and what is wrong. They would look at the facts and try to make their decision. It is clearly illegal for the company to send any of the vaccine out knowing that 1/4th of the vaccine is contaminated. A deontologist would process this information and make the …show more content…

I feel a virtuous person would at the situation and they would not send the vaccination out without at least having a warning label because a person with integrity would warn the public of the risk and would not knowingly harm someone if it could be avoided. As a virtuous person, the only thing to do is warn the public about the risk and eventually recommend that they get the vaccination from the other three companies because doing anything else is not morally right and acting with honesty. It would be unprofessional of the company to sell the vaccination without disclosing this information. The company would not be respecting its customers and competitors without at least cautioning them about the dangerous side effects.
