Most students will acquire a huge debt in college forcing them to find a job or multiple jobs to support themselves. In the study, “The Myth of the Student Loan Crisis” it disagrees that student loans are a problem, but the numbers of students who have earned a degree and do not use it in their field of work is astronomically growing. Student loans are causing people to have to settle for low-paying jobs, because they are having to pay month to month. Per a study by Jesse Rothstein most people with college loans will have a low-paying public job like waiting tables or becoming a secretary. People go to college and major in a subject because they want to love and be successful in their job.
Although many don’t get the opportunity to go to college just for the mere fact of money. Which is in fact one of the reasons why many parents and elders actually go back to college later in their lives once they are more established, wealth wise. Is because now they can afford the cost of a college education. As a student I recognize there should be more options on how to pay for the cost of college that way many people can obtain a college education. Although, there a few ways to pay for college such as, scholarships, financial aid, and loans.
But how can our future generation live the American dream when we cannot even pay to receive a higher education. The government promotes the 'American dream ' but makes it hard on us to achieve it. If the government distributed more financially to students then the college student’s success rates would go up. Whether you are ‘labeled’ lower class or middle class, we need the same financial needs when it comes to college tuition. You have these parents that take care of their kids throughout their life and provide them with everything that they need but when it comes to time that their kids want to go to fine colleges that is the one thing that they cannot do for them.
The USA needs to start encouraging its citizens to go to trade schools because that is where the jobs that make good money are. A college degree used to be the only way to get a good paying job but times have changed and getting vocational training from a trade school is the best option many people have for earning a living. Education comes at a high price for this generation and not just financially. Going to college can give students plenty of debt with no promise of a job in return, which can set a student father back on their course of life. Young adults trying to start their lives by going to college encounter many setbacks.
However regardless of the argument, I still feel that college athletes should NOT be paid to play. College athletes are not forced into playing the sport that they have devoted their time to during their years in secondary education. They continue to play into the college level for their love of the game. And for this, many college athletes are offered full scholarships. Today’s tuition for many schools are so expensive that without the scholarships that some of the students receive, they would not be able to attend college at all.
Stanford University is a good model to inspire other colleges. Therefore, more colleges should create a free tuition option for students who are not able to pay for their tuition. There are so many students who would extremely grateful to attend any four year institution but can’t because of the lack of funds. College life can be very stressful, and the process can is very frustrating to most students the first two years. When the cost of college tuition is compared to the 21 century financial economy the cost does not make sense, because for a middle-class family it is impossible to afford sending their child to any four-year institution. It hard for students to graduate with the stress to pay-off hundreds and thousands of dollars in loans. Going to college is stressful enough without the need to worry about how we’re going to pay for it and what other costs will continue to rise with getting a degree afterwards.
When hearing the words “free” and “college” in the same sentence, that is exciting to anyone who is interested in not paying those thousands of dollars for their pursued education. However, when it comes to Obama’s free community college idea, for the first two years, many people skip over the many factors that go into this issue. Some may agree with President Obama’s plan fighting for a fair chance for all student to get a degree and not go into debt receiving an education, and others argue that community college already being inexpensive will only make the system difficult to work with.
