Princess Diana's Death: A Tragic Accident Or Something More? DIANA DEAD. This is what hit front pages in major newspapers all around the world on August 31, 1997. Otherwise known as the day Princess Diana of Wales, more commonly known as the People’s Princess, died in a car crash in Paris, France. Ever since that day people have speculated that the car crash was not an accident but was in fact planned by someone who wanted Diana dead. The big question is did Princess Diana die in a freak accident or was it a strategically planned murder, and if so who planned it.
