Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born on August 9th, 1963, she sadly passed away February 11th, 2012. Whitney Houston ‘Queen Of Pop’ was born into a talented family the youngest of three, her mother Cissy was a successful backing singer her cousin Dionne Warwick a singing star and her godmother Aretha Franklin a soul legend. Whitney began her career singing in the gospel choir at her church, The New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey. At the age of fifteen Whitney was singing backing vocals with her mother on Chaka Khan’s 1978 hit ‘I’m every Woman’. She later released her album ‘Whitney’ in 1985 and became the biggest selling album as an incoming artist. Her hits including ‘Saving All My Love For You’, ‘How Will I Know’, You Give Good Love’, and ‘ The Greatest Love of All’ were released in the album. ‘The album itself sold three million copies in its first year in the US and went on to sell twenty-five million worldwide, winning her first of six Grammies’. Whitney’s vigorous acting debut in the film ‘The Bodyguard’ 1992 was the biggest hit in her career. Her hit song ’I Will Always Love You’ went phenomenal; the single stayed ten weeks at the top of the UK charts. The soundtrack also sold over thirty-seven million copies. That same year Whitney married American R&B singer- songwriter, rapper and dancer Bobby Brown. On March 4th, 1993, Whitney gave birth to her only child Bobbi Kristina Houston Brown. During The 90’s, Whitney focused on her acting and appeared in ‘Waiting To Exhale’ in 1995 as a TV producer in love with married man. In 1996, Whitney starred in ‘The Preacher’s Wife’ with Denzel Washington. ‘My Love Is Your Love’ in 1998 didn’t sell much, but it has been a long time since Whitney’s last album in 1985... ... middle of paper ... ...e. September 2011, the Hollywood reporter revealed that Whitney would produce and star in the remake of the 1976 film ‘Sparkle’ she obtained rights to the film in 2001. The 9th of February, Whitney attended a Pre-Grammy party held by Clive Davis and it was said she was looked the worst after partying. Two days later Whitney was found dead in her bathroom at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Her cause of death has been revealed as accidental drowning with heart disease and drug abuse playing their part. Respect was paid to The Queen Of Pop at the Grammy Awards the following day with host LL Cool J leading a prayer and Jennifer Hudson Performing ‘ I Will Always Love You’. The 18th of February She was laid to rest beside her father’s in Newark, New Jersey. Her film ‘Sparkle’ starring Jordin Sparks, Derrick Luke and many others would later be released that same year.
