Recommended: Similarities between non-human primates and humans

In each and every year there are more than 105,000 primates that are taken from the only home they will ever truly belong and could possibley never go back. They are thrown in to laboratories where they are abused in the worst ways possible. So many are killed each year due to the extreamely invasive experiments. They have indored more pain than any animal or any living creature should ever have to go through in a life time. It has been said that nonhuman primates are a very sensitive species. They are intelligent beings who are more like humans thean some want to believe. Primates share more of the same biological and psychological features with humans, but yet we are not the one being experimented on. Every last one of these animals are treated like trash and not like a living animal. Yet no one is going to care how far someone is willing to go to mare sure they are treated like nothing more than just a piece of equipment. …show more content…

They are born in the lab and or come form the wild. When they come form the wild it is where that natural habitat such as china, Cambodia, and even more locations. They are then brought to a lab where they are not cared for and they do not get the food and water that they are used to getting I the wild or even what the rightfully diserve. Every baby primate that is born are forced away from their own mother never to be reunited again. They are take only three days after birth. There are trappers that have shot the mothers out of trees just to get a baby. They have even stuned all the animals with dart guns just get the babies. There has been time when the take the whole family for the labs, but is not as common. Then they are thrown into the smallest cage you can imagin and are taken to what ever location needs them

    Jerom, a chimpanzee, was taken from his mother at a young age. Unfortunately, Jerom was part of an experiment and was infected with HIV at the age of two. Jerom spent the duration of his life in the Yerkes National Primate Research Center, which is a federally funded laboratory in Atlanta, Georgia, until he died at the age of 14. He was housed in the Chimpanzee Infectious Disease (CID) building which is isolated from the other housing and research buildings on Yerkes main property. The CID building in which Jerom was kept in was described as a small, windowless box with cement walls and no outdoor access. Reality for these chimpanzees was a grey, dark space with damp floors and walls (Weiss). Because of these living conditions, several of the chimpanzees suffered from depression and were constantly in fear. The wrongful treatment of chimpanzees has been occurring for many years and is beginning to be a major problem. The United States government needs to eliminate medical testing on chimpanzees.
