Michael Troquier’s prezi resume is a really unique idea, but the resume seemed too long. Micheal tried to make the resume fun and entertaining, but it was too long and time consuming. Adding a comic was a cool way to discuss the project, and helped better understand the project. The comic was very informative and helped draw the viewer's attention, but it did not see too professional. Overall, the resume was really informative and easy to read. John McCarty also used a prezi for his resume. The resume does not seem professional, mainly because of the color scheme and the comics. Many students who are enrolled in FFA are already heading in the right direction to a bright future. FFA has many career benefits within the program. Any of the career development events (CDE’s) have something that will tie to a career in agriculture or to a career of other sorts. According to the National FFA Organization, “FFA members embrace concepts taught in agricultural science classrooms nationwide, build valuable skills through hands-on experiential learning and each year demonstrate their proficiency in competitions based on real-world agricultural skills”(“Statistics”). The definition of grit is simple; it means being passionate about long term goals, and showing stamina to pursue them, but should students in public schools have a class dedicated to a grit-focused curriculum? This has become a major topic of discussion among teachers and mentors. Have you ever felt stuck? Wherever you are, it’s the absolute last place you want to be. In the book Into the Wild, Chris McCandless feels stuck just like the average everyday person may feel. Chris finds his escape plan to the situation and feels he will free himself by going off to the wild. I agree with the author that Chris McCandless wasn’t a crazy person, a sociopath, or an outcast because he got along with many people very well, but he did seem somewhat incompetent, even though he survived for quite some time.
A piece of a resume may not have meaning to any ordinary person, but to the writer, a sheet of paper reflects a day and feeling that will not be forgotten. As the writer sits in class, a National Honor's Society paper is passed around inviting all the eligible students to have a chance to join the Excalibur Chapter. The writer is excited; she has wanted to be in National Honors Society since she was a freshman. Every day, more and more attempts of banning books and taking away the rights of our First Amendment get violated. The challenging of a book is the attempt to remove or restrict materials, and the banning is the removal of these materials. I believe that books should not be banned for these reasons.

Creating this portfolio has been a blast. Although, there were certain parts to the portfolio that did not play to my strengths. For example, the very first piece you asked to be written was very challenging for me. It took me many rough drafts to be able to indirectly characterize a psychological trait of a character. My first couple of drafts for this piece were describing different traits of the character. I was easily frustrated with the end results of all the pieces, so I scrapped the idea of physical trait and shifted my focus to a physiological trait. Portfolios serve the purpose of an extensive record of a student’s best work and skills. As the student progresses through life, record keeping and reflection becomes an expectation. A résumé cannot possibly describe the entire list of qualities each individual possesses. As a result, portfolios thrive in high schools and offices alike to demonstrate a person’s capabilities in the greatest detail. Any person with a future-oriented mindset should have a portfolio to create opportunities for a successful life.
