Predators Vs Scavengers Essay

Predators, prey, and scavengers that are native to the same area will not harm the population of each other’s species nor harm the environment if unprovoked. The food chain, if undisrupted, is a complex system of animals that remained perfectly stable before humans intervened and began to damage ecosystems and the population of animals that live in a specific ecosystem. As humans began to intervene, species began to die off at a more rapid pace that affected all ecosystems around the world. Many animal relationships that were doing perfectly fine for long periods of time ended up being disrupted by extinction or being forced out of a certain area. When one species is harmed or killed off, it hurts every species in the food chain because animals lose a predator and the population becomes uncontrolled, predators lose a type of prey and they can no longer support themselves, and scavengers lose a food source because of the fact that they no longer have the ability to eat that type of animal. Predators, prey, and scavengers are all necessary …show more content…

There must be more prey than predators due to the fact that many types of predator may eat one type of prey. Scavengers also eat the unfinished remains of other animals killed by predators before decomposers had the chance to start decompose the carcass of the animal. By eating the remains of animals that had previously been killed, it prevents overhunting and species extinction. Scavengers are also viewed as prey to many predators due to their presumable inability to fight back when attacked by a larger and more skilled predator. Scavengers are crucial to the ecosystem because they provide food for predators and clean up after predators. All parts of an ecosystem, assuming they are indigenous to the area are necessary because they all help each
