Powerful Women Have you ever heard about some of the women who helped defeat the Germans? These three women that I will be talking about are from Europe. They helped fight in World War II. They had good positions and they advanced and excelled at what they did. I want to tell you about them and what they did the WWII. These women are good and did good things for the allied countries. Lyudmila, Nancy, and Natalia helped a lot in the war, even though we did not know who they were. Lyudmila is important to this generation because she did a lot for her country . She was born in Ukraine in 1916. People described her as a tomboy. When she was 14 she worked in a munition factory and was a metal grinder. She said that the units were not expecting it and were confused about it. When they got out of there and moved to a different town they had no food with them, so they dug up potatoes that had gotten frost-bite. Also the horses that they had were hungry, and one of them ate her boot. After that they moved to another town and she was sent to an infantry unit, and from there she was sent to a medical department of her regiment. Her job there was to get the hurt soldiers to the truck so that they could go to the hospital which was a house. When she brought one of the soldiers to the house the doctor asked to help him with a emergency operation. A few minutes later the house was hit by a bomb. She had a severe head injury, the surgeon, the assistants, and attendants were killed. When she came to, she returned to her regiment. Lice was a bad problem for them. They had to vaccinate everybody in the trenches. At that point she was on the front for three years and three months. When the winter came the soldiers were not allowed to build a fire for fear of being detected. The freezing soldiers had to find other heat sources to keep themselves warm such as huddling together or burying themselves in piles of hay
