Political beliefs are valued that people hold concerning their administration and its leaders. It involves political culture that is described as a method of thinking about how political and financial life should be carried out.
Ideology is defined as a set of fundamental viewpoint about the political, financial, social and cultural relationships held by popular people in society. Some of the major political ideologies include liberalism, anarchism, absolutism, conservatism and socialism. It is the attitude towards how a political structure should work. The role of political ideologies is to form policy choices and rule how we take in the political world. It involves a set of attitudes about what the government should do. The relationship between political ideology, political culture, and socialization has an effect on voter turnout, election choices and the political move made by political leaders. Liberalism is a described as a political ideology that at its centre condemns economic and societal inequality. Liberals, for instance, views equality of opportunity very essential and. Therefore, they should be achieved by eliminating discrimination. Conservatism is another example of ideologies which does advocate for individual liberty through keeping government small except national defence. It fights for strong management institutions, firm rules, and strict ethical codes (Fowlkes, 2001).
The family is one of the most essential and fundamental agents of political socialization because it helps children learn various ways through which they can socialize politically as they grow. Adults also continue to learn various techniques through which they socialize political through the family. This, therefore, means that children will identify themselves with the political stand of their parents because they will always learn from them.
The school is another example of political socialization because it provides students with the right knowledge and information required to grow political ideas and be able to socialize well politically. When it comes to my political beliefs, I am indecisive between being a Republican or a Democrat. The reason for this, is because I never really showed enough interest into learning more about politics. As for my politically ideology, I feel that I am more liberal than I am conservative. In theory, ideology is defined in two ways, “(1) Organized set of political attitudes based on underlying principles”, and “(2) a cohesive set of beliefs that form a general philosophy about the role of government” (McAtee). An Individual’s political ideology can be formed from public opinions and agents of socializations (McAtee). According to the quiz I took on “Politopia.com”, the results showed that I was “Centerville”, which means that I am in between of being a Democrat or a Republican, or that I support both sides and yet oppose to both sides.
According to Daniel Elazer, there are three separate manifestations of the American political culture. Daniel states that there wasn’t just one political culture that there was three, these being moralistic, individualistic, and traditionalistic. Daniel states that each individual state has a culture type of the three that were named above. He shows that the southern states are more of the traditionalistic type. Elazer goes on to explain that migration in the 19th century gave pattern to the dominant cultures, and that migration was happening from east to west. As these people migrated throughout the United States not only did they move to get a new life or so to say a fresh start, these people also took their values with them. Dominant culture

Party identification is the political party that an individual categorizes them self with. Political parties came about as a way to organize citizens with similar beliefs and attitudes. These parties then attempt to influence the government by electing members into office. Today there are two main parties people can identify: Republican and Democrat. There is also a third choice, being an Independent, but for the purpose of this paper this group will not be recognized as a political party. These reasons will be discussed later. There are many different theories as to why people do or do not identify with a political party, including social psychology, issue related, and psychological attachments. I believe the social psychology theory has the right idea. Sociology is about studying human society and how it develops and functions. So, it makes sense that social factors would have a big impact on whether we identify with a political party or not.
Liberalism is an ideology and due to the changing views of historical persons, who have each viewed themselves to be Liberals, is difficult to define precisely. There are five agreed defining tenants of Liberalism. The most important of these, percolating through the ideology, is the ‘Importance of the Individual’, and closely interlinked with this is ‘Freedom’, which leads on to the concept of ‘Individual Freedom or liberty’. Liberals believe that humankind is a rational species, and thus ‘Reason’ is a third tenant. Furthermore Liberalism advocates that the principle of ‘Justice’ and Toleration’ are fundamental in the well being of society and each of these aspects relates directly back to the quintessential first tenant. The term ideological is defined as "a more or less consistent set of views as to the policies government ought to pursue." (Wilson, 116) I believe that I am ideological in my political thinking. I stand really strong on what I believe in and will always try to persuade people that my thinking is right. My opinion on spending more money on national security rather than welfare is strongly felt because I have been a victim where I suffered because the government spent too much money on welfare rather than national defense.
