Pit bull: the Lovely Unloved Dog
We all have our favorite type of dog. Unless you're a cat person, if that is the
case your opinion is invalid on this subject. Well anyways, my absolute favorite breed
is the Pit Bull. Sadly these days people associate pit bulls as mean, aggressive beast,
which is not the case in all actuality. I just want people to realize pit bulls are not as
bad as others make them out to be.
Pit bulls are just like children in a way. The fact is that it is the way you train your
pit. Example, if a child is brought up in racist home that's all they know growing up so
They are most likely going to be a racist, it's the same thing with dogs. Some people
train there dogs for the wrong things, and it's

Drug dealers use these dogs
to protect there stash, for the reason that they are strong and very intense dogs, if
trained that way. Rarely are they let inside the home of their owner. Also, they are left
on a heavy steal chain, for the purpose to keep the dog in shape and to keep its
strength up. The actions of these dreadful owners are the reason for such strict rules, and regulations on pit bulls now. The most controversial pit bull ban in the U.S. was
engaged by the City and County of Denver in 1989. Over the course of 25 years, the
ban has withstood numerous battles in state and federal courts. On each occasion, the
City and County of Denver has prevailed. The ban in Colorado has helped many cities
adopt similar laws. The Denver pit bull ban is undoubtedly was the steppingstone that
illustrates the legal ownership of breed-specific pit bull laws in the United States.(dogsbite.org)
Now that we have gone over the negative aspects of pit bulls, please let me
enlighten you on all of the amazing characteristics of pit bulls. I guarantee that the
pros will out weigh the cons, and I assure that if you think pit bulls are bad dogs now,

Also if you are concerned that your
child is being too rough with you're pit bull, he will not loose his temper, and snap at
your child. This is because pit bulls have a high pain tolerance, and excellent
temperament control, Interesting fact to know, Petey the dog from Little Rascals is a
pit bull.
Now Ask yourself why should we give pit bulls such a bad wrap. They are not
inherently mean and aggressive dogs, it's all how they are raised/trained to act.
It's frustrating hearing, and seeing all the negative media about these lovely
creatures. Matter of fact, New York has trained there first pit bull to be a part of there
police force, a mature female named Kiah. New York proves that these wonderful
animals are not bad, if they are willing to use them in their canine force. I'm pleading
with you to reconsider any negative notion, or thought of pit bulls. Like I've said
before, these blessed pets are not a danger to anything or anyone. We as pet owners
need to come together, and realize that wee need to stop blaming these poor animals.
When ignorant people come to the conclusion that the owners who mistreat, and
Perhaps the reason why pit bulls are feared by society is because we are afraid of what they are associated with. Pit bulls are often thought of as a gangster’s pet, a role in violent and illegal activities. People stereotype this breed because of the unfortunate acts of few. In contrast, society needs to understand that they are being racist towards a breed of dog. Denver’s systematic killing of pit bulls could be compared to the actions of the Nazis during the Holocaust.
Just the sight of a pit bull instills apprehension and even fear in some people, who believe the dog may attack them for no reason and not let go. Many communities have placed this ostracized breed under severe restrictions; some municipalities have implemented bans outlawing ownership of the breed. Today’s society regards the pit bull as the most vicious and unpredictable of all dog breeds, whereas admirers of the pit bull believe this misconception stems from irresponsible owners and the inflammatory and negative publicity concerning this breed.
Pit bulls, the most dangerous dog to ever live. People like to train Pit Bulls to fight other dogs until they are either hurt or dead. The owners that train the dogs are usually the ones that make the dog turn out to be vicious and dangerous. “Each year, 1.2 million dogs are euthanized, approximately 40% of whom are Pit Bulls”(Moore). Pit Bulls don’t know better to understand which is right from wrong since they’re being raised up to fight and protect. Pit Bulls aren’t good family dogs due to the power of their strength and that they could attack at any moment.
To say “pit bull,” however, is a vague reference to several pit bull types, which are considered separate breeds by registries like the American Kennel Club (AKC). Each type has a slightly different breeding history; many began with the breeding of bulldogs with terriers to produce a loyal, compact and tenacious breed (“American Pit Bull Terrier”). The standard three pit bull types most often mentioned by name in breed-specific legislation include the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. That is not the extent of the legislation, however, which also includes dogs that “substantially conform to the breed standards established by the American Ken...
When most people today see a pitbull they see it as a monster who could snap at any moment. Something that they should protect themselves and their family from; but that is not necessarily true. Is any one man or woman exactly like the last? A human being’s personality along with their capacity for violence is molded by their past and how they were treated growing up; pit bulls are no different. In today’s society pitbulls are unfairly discriminated against because they are favored among street gangs and dog fighting rings, leaving a staggering number of loyal and loving dogs homeless or mistreated.
I have been around many different dogs from a young age and have grown to adore the Pit Bull over the years more than any other dog in my lifetime. I own one currently. Sjo is an 80 pound Pit Bull just over a year old. Ha...
The current popular television show “Pit Bulls and Parolees” is combating the negative image of Pit Bulls, that the media has portrayed for so long. The show is a positive example of how Pit Bulls can be rehabilitated, while at the same time helping parolees to adjust back into society, giving both the dog and the parolee a new purpose in life. The majority of these dogs have been rescued from owners who have abandoned the dog, and left them to die. Both the Pit Bull and parolee have been through simular situations, escaping death or the dealth penalty, and offered a second chance at life
On the other hand, there are people like myself, who do actually have experience with these animals, who contend that it is the animal’s environment which includes everything from socialization, training, and the love from their owners, which is what makes an animal good or bad. In addition to this argument, even though some of these poor creatures were originally bred to be killers, responsible owners like mysel...
Denver and Miami are among the more than 300 municipalities that ban pit bulls (Tullis 54). One reason that pit bulls are being banned is because of the false ideas that they are violent dogs by nature. Another reason is people’s associate pit bulls with dogfighting and vicious attacks. Although it is true that many people have been attacked by pit bulls, it is unfair to say that pit bulls are the only dogs that attacks people. Debora Bresch of the ASPCA says “laws against individual dog breeds unfairly punish countless dogs that have never caused any trouble”(A Fierce Dog Debate
Every breed of dog was bred for a reason. Whether this was for rabbit hunting, or herding livestock, there was always a purpose for their birth. Every dog has different physical characteristics, as well as behavior. For example a Dalmation can be just as aggressive as a typical, stereotypical Pitbull can be, but this goes unheard of. This is because media attention does not want to put these on the News because it is not interesting enough for the public. But Pitbulls are however. Every Pitbull is different in its own way. Some are friendly, and social. Some are shy, and reserved. Yes and there are the few that are aggressive but most of the time this is not because of natural causes. These dogs that are aggressive were trained to be that way. They are trained that way to compete in dog fights.
If you were judged solely because of your race, how would you feel? The answer, most likely, is a negative one. Pit bulls, a breed of domestic dog, are victims of harsh stereotyping and unfair judgement. Many people believe the dog is naturally aggressive, but that is far from the truth. The breed does not matter, the size does not matter, and the age does not matter. The key factor on how a dog behaves, is, believe it or not, the person who raises it. Pit bulls are not a dangerous breed of dog.
Pit bulls should be pets or mascots and many other things. They kept the dogs for hunters and back for the people that hunted so nothing would happen to them, and if something did happened to them
An increasing number of pit bull attacks have occurred over past decade. People who are attacked by pit bulls always suffer serious injuries because of the pit bulls’ sharp teeth and strong muscles. In October 19, 2009, Dr Hugh Wirth who is the RSPCA’s Victorian president renewed calls for American pit bull terriers to be bred out of Australia. The current laws require owners of pit bulls to register their pit bull. While some people are satisfied with the laws because they think that they are safe, others disagree. From my own perspective, the laws should be improved. The government should ban these fierce dogs and wipe them out instead of just registering them. In my opinion, there are three reasons why I am in favour of Dr Wirth’s proposal.
...e should do the research before they judge a pit bull. Follow the guidelines, stay diligent and do not be afraid to own a pit bull.
Don't judge a book by its cover. Over the years, Pit bulls have gotten a bad reputation. It is true that there have been a lot of injuries , but have there been just as many injuries from other breeds of dogs. I think that if you raised them in a loving environment, trained properly, and if the media stopped over reporting injuries, this breed of dog would be more accepted by the public. Proving that Pit bulls get the short end of the stick and could make great pets.
