Medications are an integral part of life for millions of people worldwide. Not only do they have the power to alleviate pain, ease symptoms of diseases, it saves lives. For as long as I can remember, when I was child in Vietnam, I had to miss field trip day at the zoo because I was coming down with a fever. I remember I didn’t like taking medicine because of its bitter tase. But just couple hours after taking the medicine, I immediately felt better, and ever since then, medicine sparked my interest. To be honest, for a couple years as a kid, I really thought medicines contained magic in them. I interact with the pharmacists and customers on a regular basis. This experience is very grand and helpful because not only did it improve my learning and understand of the profession in pharmacy but it also improved by ability to co-operate and communicate effectively. In the pharmacy, I prepare and dispense drugs to patients under the pharmacist’s guidance. I also get to see first hand on what a pharmacist does daily. The pharmacist not only educates patients on drug usage, dosage, side effects but they also maintain a close relationship with doctors to ensure their patients receive the best health care. As a pharmacy technician, I cherish every patient interaction but I wish I could be more directly involve in their health care like a pharmacist. This is one of the reasons why I wish to pursue a degree in Doctor of Pharmacy.
Throughout my career journey, I have been fortunate to work with patients under a varied range of social, economic, and cultural backgrounds; this has taught me the importance of being understanding and considerate to patients of all different backgrounds in providing the best care. I feel that a career as a pharmacist is a suitable match for my personality, talents, and possesses the greatest embodiment of what I envision as a pharmacist: compassionate, respectful, and
