Medicine is essential to better healthcare today. The satisfaction when helping others has encouraged me on to pursue a career in pharmacy. The development of science within recent years intrigues me, informing me of the contributions to the advancements in medicine being made continually such as with current diseases including the Ebola outbreak. Various countries around the world have united to find a drug to suppress the virus. A drug named Brincidofovir has shown its impact on inhibiting it thus is being administered to sufferers. Pharmacy is a combination of biological and chemical aspects of science providing quality care to patients hence is a perfect aspiration for me.
Studying chemistry has provided me with analytical skills which would be beneficial when furthering my studies. Aspirin is a dependent drug manufactured by ethanoic anhydride and salicylic acid; medicine would be incomplete without these chemicals available today allowing drug manufacture. Pharmacy is based on working with drugs therefore I aim to develop pre-existing knowledge via entering this field. Biology has caused appreciation of assimilation of the body at cellular level. I dealt with customers, completed prescriptions and attended to phone calls. It allowed me to interact with a diverse demographic developing my interpersonal skills immensely. I also arranged experience at a GP and Dentist which showed me the interaction required with a pharmacist to provide the best healthcare. The role of a pharmacist varies from helping drug addicts to those mentally unwell through consultation as well as dispensing medicine to the public. It is an emotionally challenging and precise role hence a pharmacy can only run smoothly via communication, teamwork and dedication which I successfully displayed being
