Taking supplements such as iron, zinc and magnesium as well as eating fish can help a child decrease their hyperactivity. My question to you is, do you believe that many children are misdiagnosed with ADD/ADHD? Do you believe that an ADD/ADHD is a cop out for many physicians and psychiatrist? I believe that when the medical society began diagnosing children with ADD/ADHD, there was not enough information or studies completed on the subject. Physicians and Psychiatrist focused their diagnosis on the opinions of teachers and counselors in the school system. If a teacher or counselor came in contact with a child who was intellectually different or possessed different traits, they believe the child had a psychological issue. Many children are different. Their upbringing is different, their surroundings are different, their stress levels or environment can be different in so many ways, these can all affect how a child acts, reacts or socializes. In the early days of ADD/ADHD, teachers and counselors were not properly trained for interaction with children with ADD/ADHD, bipolar disorder or intellectual disabilities. It is not their fault that they were not trained. These children learn in different ways and require a different, specialized learning schedule to meet their needs.
