Essay - Year Round School
Many (Numerous) Schools in Michigan have switched to year-round school. The state of Florida shouldn’t convert to year-round school. Countless kids attend summer jobs to pay for school. It would be really hard to attend their job for 2-weeks every 6-weeks. Other students attend sport’s teams and may cause mayhem for the student. The year-round school schedule will also make it hard for parents to find childcare or babysitters. Even though, many students and teachers less and spend less time reviewing material. The state of Florida shouldn’t switch to year round school there is no proof that it helps students academically. First of all, many students will have trouble focusing on extracurricular's that might make their career. Other students may do jobs in order to pay for school. Students

The year-round school system causes teachers and students time to relax every once in awhile. Many teachers feel fresh and so do the students. It states in ‘Text 2’ that, “teachers and students at year-round schools experience less burnout and they spend less time reviewing material since students don't forget everything over the summer.” This helps teachers by getting more stuff done in the school year. it may also help by helping students for their next school year. Even though it has many good effects, there is no proof you around school improve students academically one of the main reasons of year-round school is to improve students academically. There has not been a single piece of evidence that year-round school can help students academically. It states in ‘Text 2’ that, “ And although one of the main reasons for switching to year-round schools is to improve student achievement, there is no concrete proof that students improve academically.” If there isn't any concrete proof then it isn’t worth it to switch to year-round
First, the pros of year round schooling can include; effects on absence and burnout rates, effects on budget, more frequent breaks, and also a big effect on academic achievement. The way that year round schooling works to reduce burnout and also reduce absences is that by having more frequent breaks; students are less likely to want to skip class. This is definitely noticeable after spring break where most schools don’t have any days off until the end of the year that is usually more than 2 months straight. In other words the “April, May, June stretch”. Year round schooling will also help students with their academics as well because with the way the schedule is set up, students do not ha...
Would you consider going to a school where you learn year-round? Maybe this would be your ideal school, but, when would you get to have some time to go to summer camp, or get a summer job, or play a sport with games during the day? Schools with the traditional schedule may actually be a better choice, and not just because kids love summer break. Schools should have a traditional school year schedule instead of a year round schedule because there isn’t a significant difference between the students’ performance, and year round schedules make planning family vacations hard, make the teachers’ job more difficult, and are more expensive. Also, having a summer break allows kids to participate in activities that they would not be able to do on a year round schedule due to the shorter breaks.
In conclusion, the advantages of year-round schooling are beneficial to all. If all schools did change to year round schooling, I believe we would be able to teach all the students without having to reteach skills from previous years, it could be done during intersessions. Year-round schooling benefits both the teachers and students. Teachers are able to reflect on their teachings and adjust in time before the next session would begin. The students would feel positive about themselves in school. With this change, we may even be able to accomplish No Child Left Behind.
You might think that year round schools are the next best thing but that idea is not as good as you might think it is! In my opinion I personally think that year round schools are a bad idea!
Why are so many schools changing to a year-round schedule when study finds that a year-round does not boost learning compared to traditional schools? Paul von Hippel, a sociologist at Ohio State, conducted a study which found that “students in year-round schools learn more during the summer, when others are on vacation when others are on vacation, but they seem to learn less during the school year.” This means that people on the traditional schedules have an eight month lead in education on people in year-round schools. Von Hippel explains how even though some educators say that eliminating long summer will boost academics “the results do not support that claim.” Schools should just go ahead and let students have a full
Year round school is something not many people have to go to. But it is common throughout some state in the U.S. There are large arguments over the year round school calendar and whether it is a good idea or not. Year round school consists of a much larger school year, but throughout the year you have more breaks and they are longer too. In a regular school calendar you have short breaks and only a couple of them, but have a three month summer. A year round school calendar is not a good idea because it is not as easy for a high school student to get a summer job and is causes aspense in a family because all they are doing throughout the year is school.
Firstly, the history of year-round schooling. Year-round schooling isn't a new thing it has been dated all the way back to the 1800's. It was originally used in northern industrial to teach English to children of immigrants. However, by the early 1900's, it was used to combat issues like overcrowding and over funding. So year-round schooling has been used for a long time now and under some success.
Not only is the year round school schedule cheaper for the family, but it is also cheaper for the school. Over-crowding is another problem that can be solved this way. The reason for that is between the short breaks that students get, the students move to a different classroom. They also stick with the same teacher so all the students are on the same page with the teacher. This all seems pretty easy to adjust to. Is year round school really the answer though? "However, a number of recent studies have found no significant connection between year-round schooling and improved student achievement. For example, a review of 39 studies found that modified school calendars have a very small, insignificant, effect on achievement" (Education Projects in Education Research Center 2004.) A way to go the extra mile is summer programs that revolve around exceeding academically. Educators are working on making these programs available to parents and students who usually can't afford to go to such camps. A wonderful camp that has been made to help with the lower income families assist the children in getting college degrees is Rainier Scholars. "...Rainier Scholars, a year-round enrichment program that accepts 60 to 65 highly motivated low-income minority students annually from almost 600 applications" (PBS 2015). This program also functions solely through
All year school gives students a chance to take in more information and be more successful at what they do. Year round school can help them by making them less bored over the summer it could also help them by making sure they don’t forget what they had previously learned and help them learn it faster. This is why I agree that change the school system from 180 days of school to all year school would be a great idea.
Having year-round school would cause students to pay more money to attend. During the middle of summer the temperature is higher than at the begging. So we would have to pay more money for air condition to keep us cooler. The school would also be using the lights more with the school not being officially closed over the three weeks so we would need to change the lights more.
With all the stress and wildness we have in school now, if there was school year-round students and teachers would not know what to do. Students would get tired of school if it was this way. Most of them would drop out and then teachers would be out a job. Teachers and students need a break from school to relax and enjoy not stressing about all the work that has to be done. Having school year-round should not be an option because students/teachers could lose opportunities with work and trainings, and could have an increase in stress.
The first reason why year round schooling wouldn’t be a good idea is because of focusing for long periods of times for some students. First of all, many kids with disabilities or elementary school would have a hard time focusing that long of a time without their traditional three month summer break. Second, the more breaks students have might make it harder to focus before and after breaks. Before breaks many kids would be excited to
Have you thought about what you are going to do for summer vacation? Well lucky for you I have the perfect vacation planned. If you like it warm and sunny with a small breeze you will love Los Angeles california.
Summer break should be longer because students can work more, spend time with family members, and students can rest their minds. If summer break were was longer, then students could work more and as long as they wanted to work. Students could get more money when working while on summer break. Students would like working on summer break to get money because they could buy more stuff with their money. Cause the students would have more money from working on their hole summer break.
Should school be year round? Yes because they would have more time to learn, the teacher would have more time to teach, and not break. Students could will achieve more than what they been learning. They also would have time to study more skills then what they already have been learning and the past. Children could be in school for ten months straight learning what they need to learn to take them to the next year. The students probably would feel better by going to school year- round, Because they will know they achieve something great. Really that way they will be getting credits faster. And could go to work and won’t have to find any babysitters for their kids. They would know their children are at school learning what they need to benefits them in life. They would have more time learning with others and getting to know peoples. Sometime children learn better with other children. Teacher could make different activities so students could remember facts. The teacher could plan more basic stuff like reading, writing, math, social studies and science. Teachers could have more time to pr...
