Women in the United States feel like they don 't possess the entitlement to speak out against men. All women deserve the right to feel powerful without being brought down by a man. We’re in 2016, yet this issue is still continuing to happen. Women nowadays should be able to speak their minds out no matter what a man has to say about it. Other males, besides myself, need to show support for all women. I began to speak on women’s rights when I seen woman obeying her husband’s commands on what chores she needs to do at home. I noticed that she was very hesitant to speak up for herself. This event made me realize that women need take action in order to do what they desire. Women from all over the world should feel a sense of self-pride.
If a girl likes to play sports, boys should encourage them to join sports teams instead of making fun of what they can do. Tannen said that the “explanation for a woman’s indirectness could just as well be her seeking connection” (50). She’s saying that when a woman is indirect, it’s probably because of their response towards the unfavorable attitudes toward them. This is an agreeable statement due to the real hardships a woman can actually go through. I recall seeing a boy bad mouthing a girl for “showing off” her skin too much, yet the boy’s guy friend was wearing a tank top and shorts. Women always receive criticism for the types of clothes they wear. Why does there need to be double standard for women? Woman should not be treated differently because of their clothes. Some men feel a need to help a woman on the smallest things when it’s not necessary. For example, when I went to the gym with my brother, I noticed how there was only one woman trying lift weights. A man began to mock her and asked if she needed help. Men need to stop thinking that women can’t help themselves. Women are powerful beings, not weaklings. They can be strong as a man. Men do not have the right to determine what woman can do or be. All women should be able to live a life without a man being ignorant about their
