What I know and What I Want to Find Out
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride." Weddings are when two people vow to each other come together, I have been dreaming and planning mine since I was 10 years old. I thought weddings were a celebration and just full of fun, but to get there you have to go through all the planning and the getting ready. Four Weddings and Say Yes to the Dress, (two of my favorite wedding shows), have taught me a lot about all the different weddings and how they are set up. I figured that what I want to be when I grow up is a wedding planner, but I really didn’t know much about what the job entailed.

The coordinator is for the couple that has done all of the planning, but does not know how to execute it. Partial wedding planning, is when the couple has done some of the things but wants the planner to do the things they could not do. Lastly, you have Full Wedding Planning, and that is for the couple that has no idea what to do and needs all the help. The same site also gave me facts about how long it takes to plan a wedding, and why hiring a wedding planner would be good, "The average wedding takes couples 200+ hours to plan…yes you heard us right. A wedding planner will take the bulk of planning off of your plate, making your engagement period so much less stressful" (APB Entertainment). Instead of the location being such a big deal, the new word is connections. In order to be a great wedding planner one must have a lot of connections in the industry because we are the ones that give the ideas to the bride and groom, as in where to find the venue, dress and decorations. If the bride cannot make it to a meeting, as the wedding planner I would have to go for her. "When you are running really short on time and just can’t make a meeting with potential vendors, your wedding planner may be able to attend the meeting in your stead and make informed choices for you keeping your theme, budget and taste in mind" (Melvin).
