In today’s day and age, technology is seemingly taking over our everyday lives. Wherever one looks, they may see a number of people hunched over their smartphones, rapt in whatever they may be doing on this small device. Today, most of these devices have access to the internet and can be used for hours on end, providing anything from business to entertainment. These devices are very useful, yet extremely distracting and addicting. Of people of all ages, who are more easily distracted than children? In this case, it can be hard to incorporate teaching an entire student body with the use of devices many of them may not own. This not only puts these children at an academic disadvantage, but also a social disadvantage, such as being bullied for not having the means to own a phone or cause feelings of jealousy and resentment within a student. Many schools also have their own cell phone policies, setting rules and regulations in order to allow students the use of their devices, but with set limitations. These limitations are often unable to deter students from the temptation of using their device when they feel they must, however, and can be very hard to follow through with discipline when it can be so hard to catch students breaking these rules. Cell phones are inventions that have helped to ease the everyday life of the average person for quite a few years now, each new device adding more and more helpful tools to aid one in their day. However, in an educational setting, the shortcomings outweigh the benefits in many cases. There is no real "problem" with cell-phones in themselves. Students just need to learn, and remember, that there is a time and a place for everything. A cell-phone should generally not be used in class, unless perhaps somebody is standing at the front of the room with a gun, or if there was some other calamity, such as: kids making bomb threats and what not - for these reasons I find it completely reasonable for a child to be permitted to be equipped with a powered "ON" cellular device. I don't know about you, but if I have kids one day who are potentially in danger, I would want to be aware of this at once.

It’s not a reasonable defense for using cell phones. You can spend time for your cell phones at home. I can say that students must always be busy in the classroom, they all have their works to do instead of connecting with peers in other countries. Why don’t they use their own time to do that? That skill doesn’t need teachers to teach you how, but teachers are really necessary for explaining other lessons. As I know, today’s children probably don’t need teachers for their digital devices, most of them learn by themselves.

Can you see yourself without a cell phone today? This world has become so technologically dependent that it is hard for anyone to not use a cell phone, a computer, or some sort of device at least once during the day.
