Another point why this topic is very controversial is when gay people marry each other. Many people believe and many religions believe it is very wrong to marry the same sex person. For example in the Roman Catholic followings. The church is totally against gay and lesbian relationships, because it if you do follow the gay and lesbian side its considered a big sin because in the teachings of GOD and Jesus you have to be with the opposite sex so you can make life. The 2 perspectives that are drawn on this topic is that the 1st perspective is that you see the topic as very reasonable.
Not only is gay marriage wrong, it is not appealing to the eye. Watching gay couples walk around is not a good sight to see. Although society thinks same sex marriage is fair, it is actually immoral and completely wrong. Same sex marriage is not an actual marriage. It is not actual marriage because
Religion is a major aspect on why society believes that homosexuality is wrong and should not be accepted. Individuals who are against the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) community because of their religion believe that “homosexuality is a horrid transgression of God’s plan” (Bawer 74). They consider them sinners because they are going against God’s original intention; relationships should be between a man and a woman. Nia Augustin is a member of the Christian community and believes that supporting or being homosexual goes against her religion beliefs. In her interview, Augustin stated, “I have been told that the purpose of a man and woman being together is to reproduce, but a homosexual couple cannot do that, so that's not of God.” Homosexuality is sinful and wrong in the eyes of religious individuals because it involves sex that does not produce life.
Gay marriages are unacceptable in my opinion because it goes against God’s words. God’s word is the truth and no one can change it. Allowing gay marriage also puts churches at risk, because if pastors allow same sex marriage it makes them go against God’s word as well. Homosexuality is a sin and it is unacceptable to force gay marriage on people who do not believe in it. It is also an unnatural act because God created Adam and Eve, not Eve and Eve nor Adam and Steve.
Marriage is seen as a religious sacrament, and a homosexual couples do not fit the specific criteria that had been put in place. On the other hand there are individuals who are all about gay marriage. I mean, why not? What harm would it do if it does not affect you directly? Many feel that not allowing homosexuals not to marry is a denial of a basic right.
These individuals would rather just be closed-minded in this situation and reticent to really think about what this means to the gay community and the country. Same sex couples are not asking for any special rights; they are just asking to be treated equal with opposite sex couples. The explanations given by many Americans against gay marriages are based on false assumptions and unsubstantiated arguments. However, the real and unspoken reasons many heterosexuals have against same-sex marriages are based on religious beliefs. There are a number of false assumptions the straight community has regarding same sex marriages.
On the other hand, when it comes to two people in the same gender, government tends to reject this relationship. As a result, homosexual couples’ rights and protections, which are supposed to be provided by federal law, are as well taken away from them. Moreover, some religions also go against same-sex marriage since they think it is “unnatural.” Being repeatedly mistreated lead increasing in health defects among homosexual individuals. Some people might argue same-sex marriage is protected by Civil Union. However, they forget to realize that Civil Union does not provide as much rights and protections as marriage do.
How can we all be equal if we are being denied certain rights because of who we love? Being denied the right to marry someone of the same sex is fairly unconstitutional. Some say tha... ... middle of paper ... ...ame sex. So why are couples of the opposite sex trying to control same sex couples rights? In the end, everyone should be treated equal.
Everybody’s morals and views on life are different. Most people’s morals and views are based on their religion. One of the main reasons the people opposing homosexual marriage give is “It offends God”. First off, this is America. Just shoving it in someone’s face that homosexual marriage is ‘wrong’ because it offends God, is wrong.
Today, in the 21st century, gay couples face marriage discrimination from religions, mostly from Christianity. Several arguments against gay marriage has risen in the recent years. The most common religious argument against same-sex marriage revolves around scripture, which many faith communities believe came directly from the mouth of God, and they interpret scripture to forbid the practice of homosexuality, and by extension, same-sex marriage (Baker). Homosexuality itself is not a sin because it is just an attraction to one’s own gender but, to the faith communities, the practice of homosexuality makes it a sin. Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable (New International Version Bible, Leviticus 18:22).
