Necessity for Survival How can one survive and thrive with not enough needed for for survival? Not having enough could be a variety of things to many for many different people. For example not enough food, money, confidence, empathy self discipline, etc. What does it take to survive with such little one has? For one to survive, one needs to have hope, faith, and the ability to flow throughout their life. A survivor who thrives has hope, allowing them to keep their head up high no matter the consequences. Hope is like one giving their consent to be knocked down because they know they will still be able to get up. Many times people feel like they are alone and think that they have to resolve their situation out on their own. Feeling alone is how most survivors feel because they feel like there is no one left to turn to for help or know one they know of that could help deal with their current situation. However there is a God. Although some may disagree, the only way to really know is having faith. Having that faith makes one to feel like they are unstoppable and that nothing can get in their way of survival. One cannot survive without having faith that there is someone there to provide them a guide them through their journey of survival. Most survivors or even just people has something that keeps them standing. For example, most believers have a book called The Bible that keeps their faith strong when they start to have doubts about not being alone and furthermore, a great way to communicate with God asking for guidance and strength for survival. Most people who encounters survival spends most days worrying about what the next day, week, or month will be like and what the could have done differently to not be in their current situation. What they do not know is that in order to survive, one just has to live in the present. Living in the present makes one aware of their surroundings and who or what to turn to in the moment. Worrying over the past or the future adds up to one burden and that makes survival more complicated to survive. Kayla Montgomery, a strong and devoted teen survivor who struggles with MS continues to live her life freely all though her condition sometimes makes her feel like she cannot. She continues to do what she loves not worrying about her condition. “She says, I keep running because it makes me happy, it makes me feel whole and safe, just because I know as long as I am running and still moving, I am still OK” (Montgomery). A survivor will never know their limits until those limits are tested.
