All you have to do is position your thumb and index fingers on the circumference of aerola (the dark part around the nipple) and gently squeeze it to test if your nipple obtrudes outward or withdraws inward. If the former happens, there’s nothing for you to sweat about, i.e., you do not have inverted nipples. On the flip side, if the latter happens, you nipples fall in the inverted category. You can also judge the same by the presence of wrinkles and lines around the nipple. Moreover, if the bump of nipples is missing, you must know that you have flat nipples.
If you’re unsure about the condition of your nipples, you can ask your doctor to perform a quick examination. However, if you happen to have inverted nipples, do not fret about the milk production capacity of your breasts as there is no link between the two.
