Many people move to the state of Alaska for so many different reasons. Most of the time it is to find work, to be with family, or just for fun to “live off the land.” Personally being from Alaska, I don’t really know how people feel about moving to Alaska, but I’ve heard so many good and bad experiences on the big move. I picture it as they absolutely love Alaska, or they absolutely hate Alaska. Alaska is very big and diverse, so you can meet new people and learn a new culture everyday. Because the state is so big, you can see so many different and beautiful sights. You can go to the northern most community in the United States, Barrow, Alaska. You can see the highest mountain in the United States, Denali. If you love outdoor activities, the best place to be is Alaska. You can go camping, hiking, skiing, snow boarding, hunting, and even zip lining over glaciers and rivers. Alaska has so many job opportunities for everyone, especially teachers. On a clear night in Alaska, you will most likely be able to see the beautiful northern lights. And you basically get paid to live in Alaska, if you live here for a whole year, the state will send you a permanent fund dividend. …show more content…

Because Alaska is so far from the Lower 48s, the living cost is very high, especially if you live in rural Alaska. It is very expensive for companies to get products is, so it raises the cost for customers. Shipping rates are also very high when you try to shop online. One of the downsides is that you practically have to fly out if you want to get to the Lower 48s, unless you want to spend the gas money to drive through Canada. It will obviously be cold in Alaska during the winter, so you would have to spend money for warm winter clothes, and also winter gear for your vehicles.
