Speaking from experience, having a child and attending school is a big obstacle in life. I have a great support system from my school and outside family. Not everyone have that, having a free childcare for students would be helpful. Many teen parents would stay in school, it will help produce a greater amount of teen parents graduating. They would take advantage in good ways, getting more involved in school activities. In-school free childcare will be a great support system for students with kids. In a Herald and Review article, a statement was made by many agencies saying, “55 in 1000 teens in Macon County get pregnant every year.” That would make it approximately 100 teen mothers if you combined both Eisenhower High School and MacArthur High School. …show more content…

They may feel like staying up late nights trying to handle both is too much to handle and/ or they find it hard for them to find someone to take care of their child while they attend. Sometimes parents could be overprotective and do not want their child to go with anybody. I’ve met many teen parents who have dropped out because they didn’t have a babysitter, which made it difficult for them to attend school. Many people would take advantage by actually going to school, getting their work done and also having family bonding time all at the same time. I made a survey October 16, 2017, one question asked, “Do you think teen parents would take advantage of this opportunity.” Majority said yes, because a lot of teen parents actually was involved in school and really enjoy going to school.
