In conclusion, even though the test was developed for purposes totally unrelated to accessing character structure and personality problems, psychologists today have found ways to use this test in order to help access personality and probe the unconscious mind. Also, despite all the controversy that is caused by this test regarding the results and if they are meaningless, there are still findings that even though throughout the decades it is used less, to this day it is still a number one choice to assess a personality.
These types of personality assessments are useful because they can help us see how each of us are different and how we each fit into our roles and responsibilities. Life would not be nearly as functional if we were all the same, and personality assessments can be useful by showing us how we all can work together and see our strengths and weaknesses in a way that can help us improve them.
The HEXACO Personality Inventory (Ashton & Lee, 2013) measure the six dimensions of personality that were found in conducted research about personality throughout various cultures. These dimensions are Honesty/Humility, Emotionality, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness and Openness to Experience. Each dimension contains four facet-level scales that measure narrow personality traits with a total of 200 items (Ashton & Lee, 2009). Each item contains five answer possibilities where 1= 'I strongly disagree' , and 5 = 'I strongly agree'' (Ashton & Lee, 2009).
Psychometric Selection Tests can be defined as the process of measuring a candidate’s relevant strengths and weaknesses (Psych Press, 2014). These tests generally fall into two categories: Personality Tests and Aptitude/Ability tests. Companies pick and choose different topics to test potential candidates before the interview stage, this increases their efficiency as it aids them in reducing the time it takes to interview all applicants as the tests eliminate a large proportion of them that are deemed unfit for the job. When placed in the wrong position, employees can be frustrated and it can lead to poor performance that puts the company in jeopardy (Buchanan & Huczynski, 2003). Many of the personality tests improve by asking the right question. In one of the test I took before, it asks a childhood question. People change and I changed ever since my childhood. My personality changed over time from preschool to elementary school to middle school to high school and through college. Instead of asking a childhood question, the test should ask current situation and activities. That way, it can apply to all stages of life.

Personality tests tell a person a lot about why a person is who they have become. I believe that these test if taken truthfully can identify deficiencies that individuals can work on to benefit not only themselves but others in the organizations that they work in. Some models state that it is in human nature and chemicals that decided how a person acts but I believe it is based on life experiences and a personality can change as long as a person knows the deficiencies and works to change them.
I’m Josh and the personality test I chose to take was the Myers-Briggs personality test. I identified myself as an ESTJ -T personality type through the website 16personalities.com. I looked at the results and was able to pick out certain traits the test said were common along with situations and behavoirs in my life. I found both strengths and weaknesses that showed in my life. Examining the ESTJ -T personality through strengths and weaknesses helped me learn more about my personality and self.
