I have for many years tried to figure out where do I fit? How do I know what my talent is? And for many years I was not able to get an answer to that. However about two years ago I obtained a new job, a job which allows me to work with others and it was till then that I was able to figure out what it was that I like to do, I was able to figure out what I believe I’m good at. Some of my strengths would being able to listen to people’s problems and helping them solve those problems, which are related to work. As the article Managing Oneself by Peter F. Drucker mentions people usually know what they are not good at and are usually wrong about what they think they are good at, however after having listen to many complaints I feel that I have had …show more content…
Because although I’m good at listening to other people’s problems and I’m able to help them with their issues I can’t fully learn something by just listening. I would need a visual picture in order for me to fully understand the subject or just in general to be able to understand something that is work related. I could say that I’m able to do my job well because I’m able to see the problems that the people are having and I can also listen to their issues and I feel that that gives me a better picture of the situation and therefore I’m able to deal with the issues, however I feel that I work good in an environment were there is a little pressure and a little of stress because that makes me think more than I would normally have …show more content…
I sometimes find myself in a struggle because I don’t know how to help people because sometimes the issue or the solution goes against my values and I feel pressured because usually people expect an answer and I have a difficult time giving them an answer that would most likely go against what I believe in. I’m the type of person that does not like discrimination of any type I believe that everyone should be treated equally. Everyone deserves the same type of respect, regardless of your economic situation. I don’t like when someone is treated unfair because they are not as fast at doing their job as the rest of the people. I usually try to prevent those issues at
My five strengths according to the strength finder include; balance, this helps me be aware of treating all people equally regardless of the situation. I am neither in anyone 's favor or against anyone as this to me is selfishness and individualism. This would result in a situation where some people scale heights due to connections while others are lagging behind. I believe that a consistent environment where the rules apply to everyone is the best for individuals to function best (Rath, 2007). Flexibility is my next strength. By knowing that things do not always work out as planned has helped me change the tactics of how I perform my tasks. I do not always expect to have a smooth flow of opportunities or accomplish goals, but
Understanding one’s strengths and weaknesses is essential to becoming and being a good leader. “Purposeful leaders understand who they are” (Mayfield, 2013). The author of this paper has had previous opportunities to lead, and will reflect on her experiences using the assigned inventory. She will evaluate her skill set and discuss ways she can be an advocate for change with the hospital and community in which she is employed. Lastly, she will identify one personal goal for her leadership growth and explore different avenues for obtaining that goal.
Paul declares in 1st Corinthians that to each of God’s children a spiritual gift has been given. Over the years of my walk with the Lord I have concluded that I possess the noticeable gift of speaking in tongues and perhaps the gift of discerning spirits. As we have been learning about our proclivities towards certain strengths, I have been thinking about different ways mine are useful in and for the Church. Analytical is in my top 5 and it greatly assists my ability to learn and discern during the teaching of the Word. As Gallup puts it on their website, I have a “prove it” mentality. Therefore, habitually, I scrutinize everything the speaker says and cross-reference it against my bank of theological knowledge. However, I realize that I
I think my main strength is Life Purpose and Service. I am fulfilling my reason for being here by continuing my education at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point and in having chosen my major, Clinical Lab Science. Part of the reason I chose this major is because I enjoy helping people and am passionate about the field. I love helping people in any way I can, I have volunteered for many organizations such as City on a Hill, a volunteer organization where underprivileged people can go to receive food, and health care (physicians, eye doctors, podiatrists, etc). I also volunteer with youth groups in church (Music and Drama camp and Vacation Bible School). I find a significant purpose and fulfillment out of helping others.

In this paper, I am to write about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. This is not an easy task for me because I have never considered myself a writer. Reading other peoples thoughts are activities that are more my speed. I simply have trouble putting my thoughts into writing. Since, I do not feel that I have many strengths, let's move on to my weaknesses.
I gave this paper a lot of thought before I began to write. ?What qualities and traits do I posses that make me desirable as an employee, a teammate, and as a person?? First, you must be able to identify your own personal strengths and weaknesses in order to become a lifelong learner and an essential part of a ?team?. As technology is constantly growing you have to be willing to accept what makes you an asset or a liability in any given situation you may encounter in your life. The qualities and traits that I feel make me a valuable entity to my employers, co-workers, classmates and within my personal relationships are varied. I will go on to describe some of the attributes I think are most important in establishing and maintaining successful relationships whether personal or work related.
I’ve always had a passion for helping others and I love the idea of being considered a dependable person. I enjoy when others come to me to talk about the hardship they are experiencing and being able to provide them with feedback or helpful advice. To do this I learned that you need to have the characteristics of a “people person”. You must be patient, which from my job experience of working in retail and the fast food industry, I would consider myself to be a highly patient person. I also posses the the skill of being outgoing and friendly. I allow myself to be comfortable when speaking with different types of people and I let myself open up so I can personally relate to them. By doing this I believe that others will return the comfort that I created and will want
There are many attributes to being an effective helper. An effective helper, in essence, should be genuinely caring, have a calm manner, have a sense of humor, be a clear thinker, be highly dependable, honest, use common sense, be objective and not subjective, be self-confident, be self-aware, have a positive attitude toward life, have respect for others, exhume warmth, show flexibility and openness (Mental Health of Refugees, 1996). These are the basic characteristics of an effective helper. Above all, an effective helper must completely respect the persons they are trying to help, no matter what their values and beliefs are (Burger, 2011). You must recognize the differences between you and the person you are helping, and you must respect these differences (Mental Health of Refugees, 1996). An effective helper should not be the judge of another person’s life, but think of it as being invited to or asked to help a person. The helper should empathize with the person they are helping and not assume that they know how a person feels. The helper should understand that each person is u...
I chose to take a self-objective personality assessment on Outofservice.com to analyze my own personality traits. A series of 60 questions were asked for to me to rate my behavior a scale of 1 through 5 to determine my personality. Questions ranged from, how I am at parties to how much I care for others. The website uses the Five-Factor Model to understand the way people’s personalities differ from one another’s, the same model used in general psychology. I was given a percent and a brief description on my behavior in the traits of Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. Even though they are many more personality traits, each individual lies somewhere on the spectrum of these five
When it comes to my schoolwork, I tend to be extremely conscientious, diligent, and ambitious. A few of my academic strengths are my organizational skills and ability to think critically. A weakness that I have is test taking; while taking tests I become nervous, and forget the information. I become upset with myself if I earn a C on a test or in a class. Then I consider what I could have done differently to receive a higher grade and apply it to future assignments. I react this way when it comes to my studies, because my dad used to get upset with us if we received anything below a B in specific subjects. For example, if we got a C in math my dad would say, “You don’t know how to count? I guess I will stop giving you money since you cannot count it.” He would also reward us for being able to count and getting good grades. When I was a little girl, he used to put out money and give us 30 seconds to count it, if we counted
I believe that life is a learning experience and being able to recognize our own strengths and weaknesses can help us become better individuals in anything we choose to do, whether it is positive abilities and skills that can help achieve our goals or negative personal areas that need improvement. Knowing yourself and what you can do, can help you recognize and overcome your weaknesses.
Introduction to Personality Lillian Tracey Hayes PSY/405 April 26, 2014 Les Binnix. Introduction to Personality The concept of personality is not easy to define. Researchers give examples or perceptions to define the personality; however, there are different theories that explain personality. Personality is what makes each person unique and individual and each person has different patterns of behavior, attitudes, and traits that combine to create personality. There are biological and environmental aspects of life that shape the development of personality and differing perceptions of experiences that contribute to differences between people.
The definition of personality is the development of the organized pattern of behaviors and attitudes that makes a person distinctive. A personality is what make the people of our society different from everyone else. Every person on this earth has their very own personality. In some cases there may be things a like, but the personality trait combinations are not always the same. My personality consists of these three traits: hard-working, determined, and friendly.
