A: To this point in my career destination I perceive that I’m in the middle of my goal. There are areas that I would like to accomplish before I can actually say I’ve done, even then I might be a little skeptical. Such as completing my degrees, managing and owning a venue, and collaborate to utilize their skills and background to reach goals. Nevertheless, for my current strengths notable are attitude, motivation, concentration, and time management; and weakness would be commutation. B: In my future career journey within the next 1-2 years I see myself managing a venue, and traveling for my current job. Managing a venue will give me the insight of running a business in a deeper depth. By knowing the right steps, I believe it’s possible for much success, such as time management, problem solving, networking, analyzing, and researching. Also, with traveling that would show me how much closer my dreams are coming to path. Traveling will enhance my visions in networking in so many depths and enlighten my knowledge of different cultures. Application of career theories to my own life allows for analyzing past and future career decisions. Holland’s Theory of Careers states that one’s vocation is an expression of self, personality, and way of life. There is an indisputable and fundamental difference in the quality of life one experiences if they choose a career one truly enjoys, versus choosing a career one detests. A true testament to the validity of Holland’s theory, my job/career choices reflect my interests, as well as the evolution of my personality (internal self). My first job as a fine jewelry specialist and second job as a make-up artist echo my love of the fashion world. As I matured and became less fascinated by presumed “glamour” careers, I became captivated by physical fitness, nutrition, and medicine; I received my national fitness trainer certificate so that I may become a personal trainer. Nevertheless, my career decisions do not fit uniformly into merely one career theory.
For example, my professional expertise in the customer service field for so many years had taught me how to communicate well and how to deal with all types of people. Also, my college work experience in helping the Fullerton College students in the tutoring center, the writing center, and the transfer center thought me more about good listening skills and extending a helping hand to college students in need of my help and guidance. My assistance is provided in a compassionate and humane way, regardless of socioeconomic status, ethnicity or religious beliefs.
