Experiencing several painful dental procedures as a child, I never imagined I would feel such enthusiasm for dentistry as I do today. Fascinated by beauty of art and mysteries of universe, I spent my childhood painting and exploring Mother Nature, which seemed to satisfy my curiosity. With years of devotion, I developed my artistic talent, which led to recognition of my paintings in Tehran Visual Arts Festival. Simultaneously, I advanced my skills in other fields such as sculpture, music, and sports, while maintaining my passion for science in school. However, as I stepped towards adulthood, I didn 't feel accomplished despite my previous achievements. The contention between art and science as prospective professions continued until my senior year in high school. During one of my dental examinations, I shared my intentions with my dentist, who acknowledged my concerns and advised me to observe him at work. Although I was excited by having hands-on experience and using the latest technology to assist dental students, the succeeding events gave me greater insight about the true manifestation of dental practice. Since the nature of this clinic is to provide free dental care to Atlanta 's neediest patients, I confronted situations that I had never experienced before: an elderly lady who had to travel miles on foot to the clinic; a young man unable to purchase post-surgery medicine, or a young mother who simply was not able to afford any treatment. Observing such bitter circumstances professed me the mission of a dentist: to be selfless and go beyond the limits to bring back smiles.
