Personal Narrative: Shade Tree

Once in a while helping those in need can be very beneficial. People are not the only ones that need to survive. Plants need to survive because without them we would not be able to breath. At school I had to think of a place to do some charity work. Since everyone was going to do theirs based off of people, I along with two of my friends decided to work at a place called Shade Tree. Shade Tree is an organization which helps our environment and helps keep the environment clean and well organized. Shade Tree helped me learn a lot and it was a very great hands on experience. Waking up at 6:30 in the morning is not what teenagers usually enjoy doing, especially on the weekends. I thought waking up at 6:30 was unnecessary, until I got to Shade Tree. Steve explained that the previous weekend was extremely windy, so a lot of the plants were knocked down that the wind was so heavy it knocked down and eventually died. He said team work was very important for this process so what Ryan, Sanjana, and I did was plant, cut, and place it into the moist soil ball. My experienc showed how fast everything goes when teamwork is incorporated into it. After all of this was completed we had one more job to do. This was personally my favorite thing to do. The last thing Steve had us do was weed the plants. We acquired a bunch of tools to use to take out all of the excess plants and branches that were not necessary anymore. We had about five rows to go through; so we divided and conquered. All three of us individually took over one row and weeded the excess branches. I really enjoyed this because it was shady, the weather was perfect, and we were able to play music. After about an hour of weeding we were able to eat some snacks and drink
