Writing Process
My writing process hasn’t “evolved as result of this course”, this course has given me much needed practice writing but my process is unchanged. I list, I write, I reread, then I rewrite, thats an extremely shortened version of my process. I learned about other peoples writing processes but didn’t incorporate any of these ideas or steps into my own because my process works, “why fix whats not broken?” is what my grandfather always says.
When writing an essay everyone has some sort of process whether it be completely throughout breakdown or a couple simple steps. My process is somewhat simple, I list all the required information needed in the essay and make a check list with it, then i start writing checking off items on the
Most of us write in some form every day, so you would expect that most of us would be well practiced and pretty good at writing. I read and write all the time; I have been taken several college courses and nearly all of them require write of some form. However, before taking this class not only was I not a good writer, I knew I wasn’t a good writer. Now I am not saying that I am ready to write my first novel, but I certainly more confident in turning in my college papers. The content of this course and the style of teaching was incredibly beneficial to me. Throughout this course we had multiple assignments that were aimed to improve us as writers. I am sure that everyone took something different from this course, and I am sure that each student took more from some areas than others; however for me there were three major things that I saw that I benefited from most. Our weekly craft lessons, grammar plan, but most of all, observational learning.
So far this year, I felt pretty satisfied with my progress this semester. I feel like I am slowly adapting to the new way papers and assignments are handled. All my college work depends solely on me now. No one is going to baby me anymore and whether I succeed or fail depends on how much effort I put into something. For the first time in my life I wrote a paper. Not just a five paragraph essay but actual pages, which is extremely challenging. It’s also been my first time studying for five hours straight so I can pass an actual test. I didn’t know I possessed this level of dedication, it’s probably because it isn’t free.
My relationship with writing has been much like roller coaster.Some experiences I had no control over. Other experiences were more influential. Ultimately it wasn’t until I started reading not because I had to read but because I wanted to, that's when my relationship reached change. I would have probably never cared about writing as I do today if it weren't for the critics in my family. When I was a child, my aunts and uncles always been in competition with who's child is better in school. I have always hated reading and writing because of the pressure to prove my family wrong was overwhelming for me. I had to prove them wrong and show them that I was capable of being "smart" which according to them was getting straight A's in all your classes.
When writing a five paragraph essay, there are five steps one must fallow in order to attain perfection, these steps include understanding the question, brainstorming, writing a rough copy, revising, and creating a final draft. The first and most important step is understanding the topic. The topic of the essay is what the essay will be about and if this is misunderstood, the whole essay will be off course. The second step, brainstorming, will help organize thoughts and ideas so they flow amiably. There are many different ways to brainstorm, some of the most helpful are making a web of ideas, making a list of ideas, or creating a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the conviction. All these ideas will be related to the topic at hand. For example, if the essays topic is about how the earth is affected by global warming, then the brainstorming ideas might include the ozone lair being reduced or how global climate has raised. The third step when writing a five paragraph essay is creating the rough draft. The first draft must have all the features the final will, but does not have to be...
A process is used to make a task simpler by dividing the task into parts that can be done individually. When you start writing an essay from beginning from end, you get stuck figuring out how to write introduction and it discourages to finish the essay before you have started. Instead start writing the body paragraphs, conclusion and then write the introduction. The first draft is never perfect visit writing centers for help or ask others to help revise your essay. Also reading your paper out loud gives you a better understanding what the paper sounds like and corrections that need to be made. Often times when we read a paper in our minds we skip over the mistakes or correct mistakes without knowing it. Correcting your essay many times will help complete your ideas in your essay, this helps the reader to be able to follow the ideas in the essay and not get lost. By doing these steps you better understand why you are writing an essay and the next steps to take.
My intructor says it is important to use the checklist for answering essay questions in order t make sure i get the most points possible for wgar i know. It's a bunch of stuff to memorize, but after analyzing the list carefully, i think she may be right. i do need to understand what the question is asking; otherwise i probably won't get any credit even if i know something about the topic. The best way to do this is to plan ny abswer and then show the grader both that i understand ewhat the question is asking me to do nd how i will answer it. The grader knows i know the anwer, and it provides a guide for mw to follow so i make sure i cover all the points and don't get off the subject. Major points should stand out so that

Every essay begins with a blank stare into space, an exasperated sigh, and the inevitable thought: what am I going write about? Or at least that is how they used to begin, and this process may have continued for hours, or even days, with each time I sat down determined to write nothing would make it on the paper. This became a major roadblock in my writing process, because every essay took an unreasonable amount of time thinking about how to approach this topic, typing sentences out and the deleting them. Finally, an idea would come and I would begin to write, the words would finally spill out onto the paper. The terrible experience writing forced me to figure out a new way to brainstorm my essay weeks before the essay was assigned.

There are many ways of how one can start writing any given essay thru plainly organizing his or hers thoughts. Great examples are using free write, bullet points, Venn diagram and so on. Let’s say that I was to write a persuasive essay, before writing anything I would look through my folders until I have found a graded persuasive essay. How does an artist create a painting? He or she cannot simply look at a canvas and a picture appear. The artist must be equipped with proper tools to create a masterpiece: paint and brushes. The same can be said about writers. Writers are not born with the knowledge of writing an attractive paper. They must be given tools of writing and shown how to utilize them. Artists and writers without proper tools will be nothing more than blank canvases and empty pages. I used to be a blank canvas, but a teacher gave me the tools I needed, and now I am a polished portrait.
When writing, there were some factors that I was confused or simply didn’t have the knowledge of. Thankfully over the past semester there was a great amount of material I learned about English. There were many things I could improve on, such as grammar, thesis, and organization. However, organization was the main problem for myself throughout the semester. Fortunately, during the semester I was able to improve my organization in my writing.
I am not the kind of person who talks or writes much. Putting my thoughts on papers is something I have always struggled with doing. I believe this class will help me improve on transferring my thoughts to paper, in an organized fashion. I look forward to becoming a better writer because of this class.
