What's going on in my life right now is I have a freshman football game tonight. I'm the quarterback and linebacker. We have a game on 9/11 which is a little bit weird because it's such a sad day in America. But we gotta play through adversity and come home with the win. We're playing Iowa falls @ Iowa falls so a little bit of a drive a little over an hour. The game starts at 5. This is our first conference game and I think we're well prepared and ready to go.We put in some new running plays this week that hopefully throw off the Iowa falls defense. To start of my first goal is to graduate high school with a 3.5 GPA or higher. I plan on doing this by turning in all assignments on time and good quality work. My next goal is to graduate
Malcolm X once said, “There is no better than adversity. Every defeat; every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve your performance next time.” I stared closely at the scoreboard, watching the seconds count down. I grasped that I would not be playing in this game or the next, or the one following that. This season would be a learning experience, an experience that would strengthen my mind and spirit. My first year on varsity soccer was truly a challenge. I struggled for the first time in my soccer career and faced many difficult obstacles, along the way. The season began, and I was immediately labeled as a “reserve” player. I was a bench warmer and a useless substitute, who had minimal playing time.
I’ve played football for nine years now, and participated in over 85 games. I’ll openly admit that practices got to be the most dreaded part of my day by the time my senior year rolled around, nonetheless gameday’s never became wearisome. The miserable as well as submissive game day nerves can keep you from eating, thinking straight, and also make relaxing an unattainable task. Yet, as I sit here pondering back on football season, I’d treasure the displeasure of those nerves just one final time.
Goals give you something to measure yourself against and give you direction. Currently, my main goal is to graduate from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree of science in engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering. My anticipated time to graduation is five years with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Beyond getting my bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University, I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor focusing on prosthetics. In order to make my goals a reality, I will have to work diligently to remain on track throughout my schooling. Additional goals that I have set for myself are to complete homework assignments by the time they are due, reading assigned material before it is discussed in class, doing well in each of my courses this semester, successfully participating in extracurricular activities, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, getting a position as an engineer, and becoming a leader within both the engineering community and the general community. A world-class engineering student woul...
“If at first you don’t succeed try , try again.” At the age of six I was starting to play football. The game was a hard hitting running and commitment. I was six years old at the time now I’m fourteen a freshman in high school a lot has changed.
Boarding the bus to school it was another hot, sticky humid, August day. Without being able to sleep at all the night before from being very anxious and excited I was all but energized. Throughout the day class had drug on, nearly falling asleep first period, my teacher yells, ‘Logan are you with us today?’. Picking my head up off the desk I replied and quickly got back onto the task at hand. I had never really been able to follow along in math too well. However today was a different kind of day, today was my very first middle school football game. Throughout the halls you would have saw all the football players wearing their white jerseys and jeans. Our coach being a strict, military style coach, admired the fact that all players must match on game day on
“Time,” Coach yells from the sideline. It was the final quarter of the game and we had the ball and we were down by 3 points.
The nerves are fuming, mainly in my stomach as the butterflies flutter till no end. “Will everything go to plan? Will our team succeed?” I can not stop thinking about what might happen. Images were racing through my head about my teammates suffering pain on the day. The feeling of desire, and motivation were beliefs running through the coaches and players heads. The last time we played our rivals we lost to them by over 180 points. There is nothing worst than that impression of weakening your school by a massive defeat.
The doubts everyone has put on me was wrestling. My family doubted me because they were surprised that I did it. I disliked wrestling at first, I did it because of my brother. One day my brother comes back from practice and he was boasting on how he was good at it, this and that, I told him if I join it I probably can beat him, so he told the coach that I was going to be going to preseason from now on.
It was a cold, dark Friday night. The field was freshly painted. The lights lit the field up. The stands were filled with people. The home team in the locker room getting ready. Kids were lined up outside to give the football players high fives. The other team was out on the field stretching.
College is the main goal of my life. It is a life dream to go to college to get a degree and get a successful job. Everything that I have done until this point is to get to college. During my senior year I plan to apply to many colleges and to take the SAT's to get into college. My GPA and SAT scores will be crucial for me to get into college. With college I will further my business career, making more successful in the field I enjoy doing.
Everyday of my life, I've always wanted to get things done at the right time but I didn't because of all the excuses i made. There was one beautiful and hot day, the weather was great for me to attend to my football camp during my off-season. I got out the house ready to go with the things i needed for the camp and i was ready to go to work on the field. I was ready to show my abilities with many of these football athletes and college coaches. The camp i went was Nike Sparq Combine and they're the camp that test athlete abilities. There was several college coaches there looking for best ranked and overrated athletes to be recruit, but I thought that, I'm not going to be one of these athlete they were looking for. Because, I
I am only the fourth person of many generations of the Green-Belt family to graduate from an institution of higher learning. The other three? My siblings. My mother was the first to attend college, she attended Johnson C. Smith University on a full swimming and diving scholarship. But, did not graduate because the program was cut, and growing up poor there was no money for her to finish school. I followed her foot steps, becoming a student athlete. Athletics paved the way for me. Giving me the opportunity to travel, meet people, and gave me the opportunity to receive my education at an Honors College. The more I grew as a student the better I grew as a leader for my team. I was able to leave behind the negatives that came with growing up in
The first time I played football I ran on the field full of joy ready to start practice with my big shoulder pads and my big helmet,my thigh pads, knee pads, side pads, and butt pad making my pants fall down off of me. I pull my pants up every time I run chewing my mouth piece sweating running learning the game of football and seeing the way it is supposed to be played.
Have you ever seen a girl play JV football at North Dickinson? Neither have I because I’m the first. I’m a freshman at ND. I played football before but his is my first high school team. It’s a lot different than Pop Warner football in 5-8 grade. The coaches were a little sketchy of me playing they tried to talk me out of it twice! I couldn’t believe they didn’t think a girl could do it. Yeah they worked me harder but it played off in the first game.
Dislocating my elbow got me held back from a great season I would have had. Over the summer of 2017, I was at two different wrestling training camps on top of the school´s captain's practice. The people I knew all wanted me to be the best heavyweight for our team which I was and hyped me up for the 2017-2018 season but when we were going against Lakeville south I was slammed and my elbow popped out of its socket and slid up my bicep. The wrestling mat was my favorite because it's where my only skill was in middle school when I started wrestling the mat was amazing because I've done so many bad things I just have great memories of the mat.
