My trip to California In April of my freshman year I went, by train, to Cali with my maternal grandma to see my maternal great grandma. We were on there for about 3 days; it was fun, but was very difficult to fall asleep. My grandma was always awake before I was, even when we finally got to my great grandma’s. While I was there it was her birthday, she was turning 81 I think. We went to Disneyland and did almost everything. We went on Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain, and Star Tours. At the end we saw fireworks and Tinkerbell over the Matterhorn. After about 2 weeks in Cali my grandma and I took a train back to WI. I wish to go again before my great grandma goes.
I wonder if I should I start calling Las Vegas, Nevada home now. I’ve traveled back and forth from California to Las Vegas since I was a child. I can remember at the age of thirteen my family and I would take family weekend trips very often. By the age of seventeen I was forced to move to Vegas for 6 months right before my senior year of high school started. Since it was my last year of high school my parents decided to let me go back to California for the last three months and graduate with my friends. Since I wasn’t eighteen yet, I forced to go back to Las Vegas right the day after graduation.
Before you begin reading the main narrative of my essay, I want to let you in on some details about my life and myself. I was born in Manhattan, New York and when I was about twenty two days old, I boarded a plane with my parents on a journey across the United States to the city of San Francisco, then to the town of Grass Valley. This is where my grandmother and grandfather resided. They had been telling my parents that the city of Manhattan was no place to raise a child and that we should move to California and live with them. Before making this life changing decision of leaving most of their friends and loved ones in New York to come to California, my parents sent me off to live in India with my uncle. Keep in mind, I was about the age of two when this all happened. My first trip to Yosemite was a time where I learned about adaptation. I had applied for an internship up at Evergreen lodge which is just outside of Yosemite. They bring the candidates up to see if you are okay in the environment. When we arrived near Yosemite the area was full of wonderful lush green pine trees immediately next to it was scorched earth. In the valley I found out that the area had adapted to fires and would grow back.
Moving from Wisconsin to California wasn’t an easy decision. Despite the first few difficulties I experienced, I learned to not be afraid of change but to take it and mold it into an opportunity for me to grow. The act of selflessness, as I’ve seen throughout my life, has prepared me to contribute to UW-Madison.
Life in the middle school and high school was not easy for me. I had become an introvert, I still didn’t know how to be social, and I had very few friends. I was teased for being very quiet, and some people insinuated that I’m scared of fellow people. On the other hand life at home was difficult. My mother had become so bitter and pleased her was next to impossible. She became very harsh with my brother and me, and we were always scolded for even the smallest mistakes. Once in a while, my father would come for us and take us to the city he lived. I would look out of the windows as we drove out of town and would imagine how life in another city would feel like. Old people have always broken my heart. I think this sympathy and love for the elderly stems from the deep affection I had for my great grandparents. They were the center of our tight knit family and always come to mind when I see an elderly person, which then reminds me how much I miss them. This was especially true on my recent trip to Las Vegas.
So last year in my hometown my mom had approached me and told me that we were moving to Fresno. And that I would be moving to a new school. The thought of leaving, scared me and just made me so angry and full of woe. I have stayed in the same place my whole life. It is where I met my closest friends, it is where I had my first steps, it is where I have done everything. And I also had to make new friends which I suck at, and was soo scared to do. I was mostly scared of what everyone would think of me. And just curious about how everything looked and where everything was. And after all that scaredness and anger it finally came, the first day of school. It was time I had to try and make new friends and go to this humongous new high school and try to fit in.

America, Almost every single person on earth has a dream of living in a country full of freedom, liberty, and opportunity. The United States has been providing these benefits ever since it was founded a few hundred years ago. So when I found out that my family would be coming to America, I had already started planning my future of growing up here. Just like any other person, I was feeling enthusiastic and a little nervous of leaving my native country and coming to America to start a better life. I was completely lost in my thoughts of happiness, that I became unaware of all the difficulties that my family and I would face once we step into our new lives. Among these difficulties were the change of language, change of system, and the variety of different cultures.
When I went to Wisconsin,Dells,the atmosphere was great..Being there was like being in Ohio. I traveled to Wisconsin,Dells with my step dad’s family..At first,I didn’t to go,but I wanted to experience another state other than Ohio.I had the chance to experience the new state of Wisconsin that had been totally different from the state of Ohio.
The trip to Florida over Christmas break was unlike any other. Yes, most people would jump at the opportunity to go to Florida after a winter like we had up to that point. So, let me give you some background on why the trip. Back in July my mother in-law had an epileptic seizure that rendered her in a coma, she has not awoken from and the doctors are pushing to let her go. She has been moved 3 hours from my brother in-laws house to Georgia. Thanks to our lovely health care system, it was the only place available that could take care of her needs. Perfect timing kids are out of school and it is a good time to travel so you would think. I have been out of work
Beginning of summer 2013, my family; which includes my mother, aunt, little brother, and myself, decided to take a trip to Texas. During our little vacation we went to Dallas and met the people off of Gas Monkey Garage, the TV show,and got pictures with them as well, they all smelled fantastic, like fancy cologne. Also we stopped at a mall in Dallas where they have a ice skating rink! I’m pretty sure we need malls with ice skating rinks in Utah! Anyways we ended up leaving with 6 pairs of flip flops from a little shop that reminded me of Hawaii. We went to Galveston Texas and rode a four person bicycle on the street next to the ocean, also in Galveston I learned how to catch little crabs with a net and a piece of bacon, we went to an amusement park on a pier; not just for rainbow flavored dippin’ dots, but also for the insane roller coasters that go over the ocean. We moved closer to her once I started school. My Grandma met my brother and me almost always once we got home from school. It was always welcoming to have a friendly face when you got home. She taught me how to read and write and once I was able to read she dedicated numerous books to me that she always recommended and had such a vivid story.
