Have you ever been to Chicago? Did you go for a trip, to visit family or even just passing through? Well I’ve been to Chicago on multiple occasions but never have I experienced anything like I did this trip. Well it all started with my 3 roommates and I who were all coming back to school from winter break in Michigan. We decided to catch a train to save money, but little did we know it would cause many problems along the way. The first trip on the way from Minnesota to Michigan went by smoothly we all were on time no issues only one delay and made it home safely. However this time all the odds were against us, two of us left to Chicago at 6:30, while me and my roommate left at 8.This time we had a four hour delay at the Union train Station in Chicago, So the two early train roommates make it to Chicago at about 9:30 in the morning and they have a 5 hour delay, they decide to leave there luggage out in the open and go explore the city. By the time we make it to Chicago we get about 2 hours before we have to be on the train from Chicago to grand forks and we have nothing to do. So we call are other roommates to get there location to meet up and it turns out there a 30 minute walk from the train station at some rest stop eating. We being the smart one didn’t want to leave are luggage out in the open so we go rent a locker from this junky machine that charges $6 every 45 minutes. The big problem came when we didn’t do the math before we left, we have 2 hours left, if we go to meet up with them were going to have about 40 minutes to eat and have to rush back to the station. We ended up spending the night in Chicago and leaving the next day, ever since then I’m going to avoid anything trips to Chicago because the city is full of bad

Without these ethnicities immigrating to Chicago almost 100 years ago, Chicago neighborhoods would not be as culturally defined and shaped as they are today.

For years I’ve been planning a family vacation but had never decided a pleasant and fascinating place to visit. A lot of people relate the adventures in San Antonio for tourists. The Chicago Cubs are an interesting part of Illinois history, even if they are not always successful. The history of Wrigley Field, the famous players, and the stories behind every game are why Chicago loves the Cubs. It is the atmosphere of the friendly confines when you walk in through those gates. ... made the story go in my favor when I should have called earlier to tell them that I would arrive late because of what happened. Instead, I waited for them to call me on my way up. All of the effort I had put into the past three months at work are now diminished by my one ignorant action of not calling and lying when I arrived. I could have simplified the situation by just calling in when I knew I would be late and come clean up front, instead, I blew the whole situation out of proportion and tried to make myself seem like a victim. I have lost the trust of my peers and superiors that were involved.

I was born in Sri Lanka, a small island torn by a civil war. As the violence grew, my parents decided to move us to the United States so we can have a better life. In 2001 my parents left everything they had to start a new life the United States. . I came from nothing. All Throughout my life, my parents worked hard to provide for my family so my brother and I can have a better future. Their sacrifice is what drives me every day. Their Sacrifice and hard work motivates me to work harder.
America, Almost every single person on earth has a dream of living in a country full of freedom, liberty, and opportunity. The United States has been providing these benefits ever since it was founded a few hundred years ago. So when I found out that my family would be coming to America, I had already started planning my future of growing up here. Just like any other person, I was feeling enthusiastic and a little nervous of leaving my native country and coming to America to start a better life. I was completely lost in my thoughts of happiness, that I became unaware of all the difficulties that my family and I would face once we step into our new lives. Among these difficulties were the change of language, change of system, and the variety of different cultures.
At the age of seven, my life changed forever. I was no longer living in my native country; I was now a fragment of the millions of immigrants who come to the United States in search of the American Dream. At the time, my father had recently lost his job and my mother was unemployed, which caused incredible financial stress for my family. My father decided to risk his life crossing the Rio Grande River for our family to have a better life and greater rewards.

It was about two years ago when I arrived in United States of America, and I still remember the day when I left my native country, Honduras. As I recall, one day previous to my departure, I visited my relatives who live in San Pedro Sula. They were all very happy for me to see me except my grandmother Isabel. My walk along Highland Park surrounded by with the water’s quiet flow that moves through the land, separating the two sides that were once connected. The waterfowl escape the heat of the sun by swimming happily with the current and in the process, diving to catch lunch. Trees are scattered all over the grass, soaring high above the ground creating homes for those who live by the sky. The dirt, leaves, bark, and water create the smell best classified as Earth, enriched by the uprooted trees from Mother Nature’s wrath. An old giant lay across the water connecting the two sides once again, similarly to the synthetic bridge conveniently located before the trees begin to hug the road.
My heart was pounding as I boarded my flight leaving the Bangkok International Airport. A flight attendant in a grey dress with a red bow draped over her shoulder announced; “Welcome aboard flight AA350 to the United States.” My journey began that day.
“It’s the best of times, it’s the worst of times.” This is a quote I heard long ago before I had started my four year journey here at Northview. Though I had no idea how accurate and meaningful this quote would be to me back then, it always stood out to me as a something short, sweet, and to the point that sums up what high school is; let me explain. Flashback to when I was 14 and just finished junior high school at Arbor Hills. It was a great three years and I actually learned a lot about people and myself, but I was not prepared for high school courses and the faster more demanding pace of the curriculum. I was very excited however, and became very interested in newer topics and different hobbies. It felt great to be moving on from a stage in life and it felt good to accomplish this, just as it feels now to be moving on from high school.
