Personal Essay: Why I Love To Read

I do not remember a time where I have not loved to read. Throughout my life, I have had many positive memorable moments with reading, both in school and at home. During elementary school, my school had a program where you could sign up to be a librarian for a day. I promptly signed up and was thrilled when it was finally my turn, as I was able to spend the entire day in the library, reading books, reading to other classes, and helping the librarian with their duties. My school also had a reading day, and this was by far my favorite day of the year, as we were allowed to spend the whole day reading books for fun. I still immensely enjoy reading and seek out opportunities to do so. I enjoy reading new books from genres I have not read much in, but also love to reread some of my favorites. My too be read list keeps on growing, and I doubt that that will ever stop. I believe that reading is one of the best ways to relax, and thus try to do it when I have time. I do try to read for pleasure, but during the school year this can be difficult as assignments for classes, as well as extracurricular activities keep me busy. However, one of my goals for this semester is to read for pleasure more as it is something that I enjoy doing. I will usually try to read for at least ten minutes before I go to bed. I read for pleasure for several reasons. First, reading in general is something that I always enjoy doing, especially when I get to pick the books that I am reading. Secondly, I find that for myself, reading is the best way for me to relax before I go to bed. Finally, I read for pleasure as I am pursuing a degree as a reading specialist and feel that it will be beneficial for me to be familiar with a wide variety of
