Mason Cooley says about reading “Reading gives us some place to go when we have to stay where we are .” Reading is like a journey you can take when you want to go somewhere. Everyone always wants to imagine they are in the journey with the character in the book. When the story is over the person that is reading never wants to leave the journey. Everyone starts a new journey when they open a new book to read. Sometimes people who read don’t have a journey with the character; they just want to read because they don’t have anything else to do. For me reading is really fun to do. When I was a young child my mom would read me different type of books before I went to bed. The books she would read to me were fairy tale
When you read, especially fiction, you experience a broad sweep of human life. You gain access to the thoughts of others, look at history through another person’s eyes and learn from their mistakes, something that you otherwise would not be able to experience.
Fairy tales connect to our owns lives, dreams, anxieties, and help us to consider what we would do in their shoes. Many cultures have their own spin on common fairy tales like Sleeping Beauty, with their own cultural flavor. We read those versions and know that we share something important and the hope for good to overcome evil.

My reading habits are fairly frequent. I read a lot of magazines and online articles, but I never miss out on a good novel. The atmosphere of a bookstore or library is so comfortable and that drives me to read more, too. I am currently reading two books; The Name of This Book is Secret and If I Should Die Before I Wake. Considering I am constantly reading as recreation or school-wise, I think I read enough.
I believe that fairy tales are a big part of child’s life and they can make his or her childhood memorable. These fairy tales usually have a positive moral that teaches a lesson like the ones I was told as a child. Most tales teach against dangerous behavior. A good story teller, like the ones who passed down the tales and my grandparents, can really have a positive impact on a child. These tales were also a big source of entertainment, both in the present and in earlier days. Hearing stories as a kid taught me important lessons like not to talk to talk to strangers from “Hansel and Gretel”. These fairy tales are also very memorable part of my childhood with my grandparents.
From a very young age, I barely had any book time. I would occasionally ask for mama to read to me but she always looked down, frowned and said “not tonight.” All the other kids got their parents to read to them. It was no fair. I didn’t like reading, the sound of one of parent’s tired voice after dealing with their crap talking boss made me feel so comforted. My father, with his smooth baritone, reading Love You Forever as I slowly drifted into sleep, until the book inevitably ended and jolted me back awake. I would lie there, staring at the ceiling, counting to 100, counting my breaths, but it never helped. Many hours passed by until I eventually fell into a relaxing slumber.
Reading is important because it enhances our vocabulary and comprehension. Reading also improves our writing skills. Reading opens up our imagination and helps us understand our surroundings. Reading is a part of everyday life and almost everything around us requires reading. Reading is important because it helps us in the subjects of school that we are having difficulties with. When we read, it helps us develop so we can process information easier. It helps improve our English and enunciation. Reading improves our memory and keeps our brain engaged with an activity. This is important, because the author is being able to use descriptive details that allows the reader to be able feel/make them like they’re with the character. Another adventure that someone could go through is to “attend fancy balls with Cinderrella,” (Reading takes you 1). When an author is showing these little details, it makes the story powerful, different, and unique. While reading Fault in our stars, I felt like I was with Hazel Grace, throwing the eggs at my blind friend’s ex-girlfriend car, having a blast. It made me there, because when the author had vividly described the background, character, and how they were doing it, the details were so descriptive and powerful to actually have me there with them in the book.
