Beyond Stereotypes: My Unconventional Music Taste

I have long blonde hair, blue eyes, love the beach, and drink coffee on a daily basis, yet I am nothing like the picture I have painted for you. From a first impression, most assume me to be a stereotypical bubble gum chewing, clothing obsessed, popular school. Although I will not turn down the opportunity to go out shopping with some of my closest friends and grab a Starbucks drink along the way, there is one interest of mine that come as a shock to most people.
I am what many refer to as an outsider, although not in a social sense. In fact I can be overly social to the point where my friends are begging me to stop talking. Instead, I am on the outskirts of the world of music.
For those who have ever gone through my most played list on my ipod, music from a large and obscure array of artists come up, most of them are songs that nobody has ever heard of. From heavy metal bands such as “Disturbed,” “Seether,” and “Black Veil Brides” to more alternative, such as “Duran Duran,” “Sinead O’Connor,” and Depeche Mode”. It is how I deal with, all that life has to give, the good and the bad. I have experienced things at age nine that others have never experienced in their whole lives, things that have completely changed my life some for the better, others for the worst. One of my favorite quotes reads “When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. I am related to the earliest times, and to the latest.” by Henry Thoreau. I look to this quote as an inspiration on a daily basis and it helps me stare into the eyes of fear and be simply fearless. I am a part of the alternative crowd, the crazy crowd, and the insane crowd. Music is a mechanism that I still used today and probably will continue to do as long as I live no matter what CD I have to put in my radio to do
