A couple of people have influenced my choice on becoming a social worker. As humans we are influenced by parents, peers, religious affiliations, teachers, media, and siblings. These things contribute to who we become in life. The most influential people in my life were my parents. I was lucky enough to have parents who truly loved me, cared about me, and who wanted me to be a kind, understanding person. Through them, I learned how to live, how to love, and how to be honest. I learned how to care and how to listen. Because of them, I understand how very important it is to have a good support system. Many people are not as fortunate as I have been.
