Passion speech
The passion speech was a great project that motivated me to speak for myself and always helped me by improving my speeches as in body language,eye contact memorizing notes,etc. I also loved it because it was a experience samovar from stage fear.It took about two weeks to finish the speech you will say. You had to type five paragraphs.The assignment was worth one hundred points.It was a very hard project because i have stage fright but eventually i got over it and made myself feel like it was normal There was four main points i had to follow. I had to be looking at the audience and not to be giggling or laughing. My second point is to know what im talking about and have note cards or it can be memorized. I also
I thought that Diane Guerrero who is an American actress speech about her family’s deportation was interesting. She recently appeared on an immigration themed of Chelsea handler’s talk show. Guerrero is the citizen daughter of immigrant parents. Guerrero mentioned how her family was taken away from her when she was just 14 years old. “Not a single person at any level of government took any note of me. No one checked to see if i had a place to live or food to eat, and at 14, i found myself basically on my own”, Guerrero added. Luckily, Guerrero had good friends to help her. In the speech that Cesar chavez presented himself at a mexican american celebration conference talks about of how he sees the church and mexican americans together. Also Chavez was committed to carry out his movement with no violence toward the crowd who doubted him and movement, but others did try violence on them and did not succeed on bring them down. He also had brought this speech towards the public during his 25 days of spiritual fast and had talked about mexican americans and the church and how they are related.Using imagery,metaphors,and repetition, Chavez hoped his speech would bring people together through rough times using the church and their faith to give them hope for a better future.
Cesar Chavez uses morals and his audience fear of destruction to justify his stance on non-violent protests . Martin Luther King jr was an activist and civil rights leader that did not use violence to get his point across like many other activists at that time. Cesar Chavez wrote on the anniversary of his death explaining why using nonviolence is the way to advocate rights for those in need. His article was put in a religious organization that helped people who were in need of help. Cesar Chavez uses morals as a way to appeal to the religious side of his audience. Cesar Chavez also uses the fear of losing power to prove that doing nonviolent protests are the right way to spread his cause.
For my passion project I made cookies, but not just any cookies, I made cotton candy cookie. There were many ups and a downs while making these cookies, but they all payed off in the end. I learned many things during this passion project. For example I learned why I wanted to make these cookies, I made three of my own recipes and learned some really cool facts!
On the feast of St. Ignatius, July 31, 1973, Pedro Arrupe gave his most powerful speech to an audience of alumni of Jesuit Schools giving the task of education men and women for others. This speech gave a deeper meaning behind education and Arrupe preached that he wanted justice and peace to play a role in Jesuit Education. Through the three actions Arrupe layed out to complete his task of educating men and women for others, he was able to show how he believed this is the way to ending injustice. In Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, he elaborates on the injustices that were wildly plaguing America in the year 1963. Black people all over the country were being treated unfairly, locked up in prison for false crimes, and refused the great opportunities that white people were so lucky to receive. Before the year 1963, President Abraham Lincoln was the last person to make such an impact in the equal treatment of all people, so for about 100 years, blacks had no one to back them in their fight for equal treatment.
One of my concepts was to put emotion behind my character’s words to make them more realistic and easier to understand. Most people I talked to afterwards understood my characters so I feel I did a good job translating it to the stage. I also helped with finishing my costumes. That helped show a physical image to better picture and understand my characters. It was hard at times to finish costumes because you’d have to get tons of okays first. It was also hard to come up with movement on stage sometimes and to remember to project on show nights. I would, next time, make less costume changes or at least make the costume changes less difficult. Next time I would memorize my lines quicker so I’d have more time time to figure out movements and entrances and exits and such. Those things are important and would make everything more
I will do this by finishing my presentation and go over the checklist, and I will make changes if needed. I also need to make note cards, so that will help me stop reading off the projector screen. I also need to make sure I enunciate and have good pronunciation of my words so I don’t mumble. I will also need to improve going into monotone as that makes the speech boring. I will also need to improve my conclusions. When I practice my speech, I tend to skip going over my conclusion and it hurts me in the long run. I need to have an impactful conclusion that the audience will remember me
My Presentation skill is much developed due to taking parts in different work shops and giving oral presentations in college.I know how to attract attention of others by using different tact.
Enrolling in this course seemed to be challenging and out of reach for me at the beginning, but as we completed our first few lectures and assignments I knew that I would undoubtedly improve my reading, speaking, and analyzation skills in Spanish. It came time for creating our first presentation, which would be presented in front of the entire class, without note cards all from memory. I never really had to read, analyze, and summarize an article in any of my previous courses, especially in Spanish. While taking Spanish classes in high school, I was just handed a worksheet with specific instructions to prepare a PowerPoint and note cards about casual and nonchallenging things. Even though I was captain of my speech team for my junior and senior year of high school, I have never been the best at giving presentations in front of my peers individually.
On August 28, 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered “I Have a Dream” speech at the Lincoln Memorial during the “March on Washington” (King). Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a credible speaker. He was a Baptist minister and the leader of the Civil Rights Movement as well as the leader of Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Dr. King was also a Nobel Prize winner and a believer of nonviolence (“Martin Luther King Jr.”). For example, Dr. King addresses in his speech that “we must not allow our creative protests to degenerate into physical violence” (King).
Practice is a major role that needs to be played when it comes to presenting. Practicing, I feel gives you more confidence in your speech, and more preparation than if you were to not practice. Rehearsing before the speech then presenting makes you seem like you actually know what you are talking about even if the only reason you know all these facts is because of study and practicing. Practicing through my speech really helps me with my presentation, if I practice enough, I feel very confident to where I wouldn’t need t a paper to look at notes during the speech. This concept is important for anything. Practicing will always help you with any future task.
After re watching my own presentation I have noticed many different things that I didn’t think of or notice when I was originally presenting it. While watching it some of the things that I think I did well on where first my talking. This is something that I know I did better on because I did my presentation a little different from everyone else. Another thing that I think worked well for my presentation was the word to picture ratio. I felt like I did a good job not putting my entire script on the screen but enough to give the class a good summery about what I was talking about. Some areas of the rubric that I still think I need to work on is being more specific on answering the essential question making it more obvious as to what my over

Nealy and my parents helped me tremendously over the years to overcome my fear. I stayed after school to practice in front of Mrs. Nealy and a small group of my closest friends. My parents recorded my speeches so that I could watch my body language and practice over and over again. My sister, although 3 years younger than I was, provided me with many funny but ingenious comments that help me to learn. I practiced in the shower, in front of the mirror, and everywhere else I could before each presentations. It wasn’t easy; however, as the years went by, I felt more confident and comfortable speaking in front of groups. I have learned the valuable techniques from Maya Angelou that said, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”. With each of my speeches over the years, I have tried to incorporate some funny or heart warming stories to keep my audience engaging and always remembered Mrs. Nealy’s advice that I didn’t need to memorize every word from my speech, but just to prepare an outline, be interesting, and try to have
