Parliament Election Process

In this assignment I will be discussing the election process for each candidate in Parliament. An election for Parliament, is a time for every citizen in the UK to vote and choose an MP, who will be a representative of their local area. In a general election, there are typically several different candidates for a person to choose from. Though, a single person can only choose one candidate, to be their representative. Out of every candidate running for that specific position, the one with the most votes wins, and becomes the MP for that region, and will serve in Parliament for the next five years. Any UK resident can vote, as long as they meet the minimum qualifications, which include; being at least 18 years of age or older, not legally prohibited from voting, and of course be a British, Irish, or Commonwealth Citizen. The other stipulation is that you must already be a registered voter. After meeting the qualifications to vote, as previously stated, you must now register to be a UK voter. General elections are taken place for the country as a whole, while locale elections are based relative to that area. Even the media covers the elections differently. For a general elections the media will almost swarm in, making constant national news. While on the other hand, Local elections are not nearly as wide spread in their coverage. They are mostly covered by that local newspaper or television station. In a UK general election is not uncommon for this to attract attention from overseas, while in a local one that would typically not be the case. In general elections the MPs are made up of the Prime minster and the senior ministers, while in local they do not form any sort of government and are not entitled to have a seat on
