Palestine, a region that has seen the passing of countless centuries and has been a crossroads for various cultures for centuries. At the heart of this contested region lies the two groups who both lay claim to this holy land. Israelis and Palestinians. Israelis are the citizens of Israel, primarily Ashkenazi and Sephardic adherents of Judaism, but this also includes many different ethnic and religious backgrounds as well. Palestinians are the modern descendants of arabized people who have lived in Palestine over the centuries. These two groups make up the current Israeli-Palestinian conflict which has been a contented issue since the 1940’s. Since then, numerous solutions have been recommended, (i.e the One-State Solution, Two State Solution, and the Three State Solution.) The One State Solution is by far the most reasonable solution and I believe will successfully lead to peace in Palestine because it will end most territorial disputes, create more tolerance towards Israeli’s and Palestinians, and it will be easy to implement.

To begin, the One State solution will end most territorial disputes that currently exist in the region of Palestine. This includes not only the large territorial disputes that exist between citizens of the West Bank, Gaza, and Israel, but it will also effect territorial disputes at the local level. An example of these local territorial disputes can be found in the numerous Israeli settlements found throughout the State of Palestine (Gaza, West Bank, and East Jerusalem). These settlements were originally founded during the time after the Six Day War of 1969, when Israel acquired the Sinai Peninsula, the West Bank, and the Golan Heights. ...n this new country. It’s notable to point out that within this new country, states would be established within it so in essence Israeli Jews would still be the majority in some of these states. The Israeli Declaration of Independence itself states that Israel will “be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex.” (Ben-Gurion par. 13)
