Throughout life, there are many obstacles. The thing about those obstacles though, is that there is always a way to overcome them. Once those obstacles have been overcome, there is a feeling of success. Around the time of my sixth grade year, I started to have eyesight problems. I could never see the front of the board in class, which would cause me to be behind. There were multiple times that I would have to ask another student to share their notes with me. I told my mom about my eyesight multiple times but she put it aside, assuming I just needed glasses. However, that was not the case. A year later, we ended up going to an eye doctor and they sent us to the University of Iowa because they could not see the back of my eye. I found out I have an eye disorder called Uveitis, which causes swelling in the back of the eye, and can eventually cause glaucoma. Uveitis is caused by an autoimmune disorder. Because of this, the eye doctors sent me over to the rheumatologist to have different tests taken such as Tuberculosis, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, and others, to see if they may be the cause of my Uveitis. However, all the tests came back negative. …show more content…

The swelling did go down for the Uveitis, but the shot did cause other issues, such as cataract in my left eye. After a year, I was considered legally blind in my left eye. I had my first cataract surgery in my left eye on July eighth of 2016; my second cataract surgery took place in my right eye on the sixteenth of September 2016. All is well with my eyes, but I currently go to the child clinic once a month to receive an infusion, which will help my immune system, which will help keep my eyes from swelling
